  1. I understand where everyone is coming from on talking about the lack of pedestrian friendliness, but you have to understand codes and how it works with the site. The site topography slopes and there are certain ADA requirements that must be met. So having these steps on the sides is needed to create a level walking surface throughout the complex that meets College Street. Just thought I'd add some "reality" points to the topic at hand.
  2. georgia tech. scad is a great school i hear, definetley give it a shot.
  3. if it's anything like the one at lenox, then it's probably comparable in size to the urban outfitters, yet it will be divided in to smaller rooms like abercrombie & fitch for an intimate feel.
  4. I personally believe that many of you are looking at this the wrong way. The VUE is a high-profile project in the many proposed residential projects for uptown. They are simply trying to market themselves as much as they can to make sure they make the most money and stand out in the crowd. I do belive they have reached pre-sale requirements and will break ground, but don't think that great publicity/marketing is hinting at a different story.
  5. I think a retailer that would do well in the new Southpark wing near NM would be Ruehl (the new brand by A&F). It's geared more towards the 25-35 crowd. Plus Charlotte is apparently on their radar with a few other cities for openings this year. It wouldn't surprise me if they announced this retailer as part of the lineup for that wing.
  6. The AJC has an interesting article about the Hall of Fame in it's business section today. It mentions the new GA Aquarium has a "leg up" for Atlanta, but says that France said Charlotte has two advantages over Atlanta: secure funding and plenty of nearby Nascar drivers/headquarters for their annual "red carpet" thing. Check it out online at ajc.com for the full article. quite interesting.

    The Vue

Also, if you haven't noticed on the rezoning petition site plan, in the upper right hand corner of one of the pages it lists the # of stories at 50. so perhaps the rumor of adding 8 to that is not true anymore.
  9. The Park website has been updated stating that upfittin of the garage will start next month in September and that the tower itself will start construction in December. Yet, it still says that there are 30 units to be rereleased in September.
  10. Was the CBJ piece an actual article on The Park or was it just a snipit about it? If it was an article, does it discuss the financier, and any other details?
  11. For those of you finally looking for Kansas City renderings, they have just been released on http://www.KansasCity.com.
  12. What are details of this proposal outlined in the CBJ?
  13. News 14 has two new renderings in their gallery on their article for the hall of fame that really highlight more of the architectural details. In my opinion, the architecture is stunning, not overall impressive/abstract, but I think our building is phenomenal compared to the other simplistic renderings from Richmond and Daytona.
  14. I completely agree. Check out the renderings on the Charlotte Center City Partners website. Small, but awesome.
  15. The NC House finally passed the hotel tax. And now we have the land. If we don't get awarded this then I'll be pissed.
