    Unincorporated Area
  1. They are crushing the concrete and using/selling it as backfill. Good reuse of the material. The crushing machine is a beast...
  2. We all know that City is pursuing grocery stores for the Stone Ave./North Main area. Probably wishful thinking, but the new, smaller, Whole Foods store format would work well in this area (especially this project). Really looking forward to watch this area take shape... http://www.nacsonline.com/News/Daily/Pages/ND0505141.aspx

    The Gateway Site

I'm hearing that this project plan is moving forward. 4 story apartments and a 5 story parking garage. I haven't seen a site plan yet.
  4. Which church will be locating here? The link is currently not working...
  5. TBA's May 3, 2013: "Word is a well-known national retailer is looking to locate at the former site of Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet on N. Pleasantburg Drive. A rezoning is required; the public hearing is later in May". Any ideas who the retailer is??? "Look for a new cigar store coming to downtown Greer". "Miniature World of Trains is reportedly moving to downtown Greenville to the miniature golf building next to Rick Erwin's Deli".
  6. TBA's February 15, 2013: The Beach Company which is doing the mixed-use project in Haynie Sirrine, is said to be looking at several other projects and properties in the downtown Greenville area... Word is an "epic" hibachi buffet is taking over the vacant Ryan's Steakhouse in Simpsonville... Expect a new venue/event hall to open in the Old Cigar Warehouse on South Main Street across from Fluor Field... Look Look for some interesting new art and statues to be coming forward for downtown Greenville in the coming year...
  7. Not sure if this has already been discussed, but it appears that a major announcement from Michelin will be coming next Tuesday. Anyone have any inside information? http://www.gsabusiness.com/news/43362-michelin-to-announce-big-expansion
  8. TBA's for November 12, 2010: CB Richard Ellis founder says the asking rates for leased space downtown in the third quarter decreased five cents to an overall market average of $16.42 per square foot. The largest quarter-to-quarter decline in the past two years. An eight-lot subdivision is proposed for a piece of property where McDaniel Avenue ends at East McBee. Barley's intends to open a Belgian bar early next year in the basement beneath the restaurant. Marketplace by Walmart in downtown Grenville? Hmmmmmm.

As of this morning, the for sale signs were gone. Not sure what that means...

The site is being sold by the Furman Company. Sorry for the slow response...

    The Gateway Site

I was driving by the Gateway site this evening and noticed "for sale" signs on the green wall at the East North Street/Church Street intersection. Not sure if these signs have been here for awhile, but I assume the most recent proposed project is "officially" dead??
  13. TBAs from Friday October 9, 2009 (Vol. 11, No. 41)... A major announcement will come for downtown within the next 30 days. Whether it is the unnanmed 100,000 sq. ft tenant or the Main Street CVS is not being said. Or it could be another project that has flown under the radar... Expect to hear more about a series of meetings in the coming weeks aimed at creating a countywide transit system. Part will focus on a bus rapid transit line that would connect downtown with CU-ICAR area for which the city has applied for a $99 million federal grant... Look for a new restaurant at 18 S. Main St. called Rick's and Rob's. This restaurant will feature meals named after Greenville landmarks and leaders (such as Poinsett, Reedy, Hyatt and Knox) and a lot of vegetarian dishes... The State transportation department soon will begin work on a sidewalk project along Haywood Road from the mall area to Laurens Road. The five-foot wide sidewalk won't have grass medians and is paid for using stimulus funds...
  14. Appears to be a good bit of clearing going on for a fairly sizeable project just up (away from downtown) from the proposed Phoenix Center location. Anyone heard anything about this? This area of Wade Hampton Blvd is in desparate need of a quality new development as it is a gateway into downtown. Maybe this could spur additional positive development? I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere...
