Raleigh's definitely growing up fast. I can't wait to see some better in depth renderings.

Raleigh made it to the top of yet another Forbes list. I know many people question the validity of these lists, but it's still good press nonetheless. There are people who actually take these lists seriously. This time Raleigh made number 1 for job opportunities. Windows Vista is totally hott by the way!

Bump.....

Here are some new renderings of the proposed plaza at the end of Fayetteville St. This plan is hot to death!! This will do wonders for that section of Fayetteville St. This plan IMHO is far superior to Plensa's LED wires. It is truly amazing how far Downtown Raleigh has come in a few short years. I moved here a little over 2 years ago and the differences between then and now are truly amazing. All photos are Courtesy of Raleigh-NC of SSC (owner of Raleighmsa.com) and the Raleigh Urban Design Center. Enjoy.

I just hope this area doesn't become another Atlanta-type clone. The potential is already there. This area is basically a mass sprawling conglomeration of large to large-ish cities all smashed together sharing municipal borders. Sometimes its hard to know where one city stopped and another one began.....unless you look up to see the city limits sign.

Raleigh makes front page of Yahoo! Discuss....

Didn't you post that same post in my thread at SSC? LOL.

I just thought I'd go out and take some pictures of a seldom seen part of Raleigh in these forums. Southeast Raleigh is still a work in progress battling some major issues. It'll be interesting to see this area in the future. Sitting adjacent to Downtown with easy access to I-40, it is certainly a jewel in the rough. We'll start in the South Park neighborhood. It is not uncommon to see prostitutes sashay up and down Bragg Street. Hayes-Barton. Somebody appears to have gotten evicted. The end of S. Saunders St. Some burnt out house on Hargett. Skyline as seen from Martin Street. Skyline as seen from Chavis Heights. Skyline from McDonald's parking lot. I'm Hungry.... Shaw University Some random shotguns. Some projects. Corner Stores across from St. Augustine's College SAHARA Mini Mart!!!! Capital Blvd. although its not SE Raleigh. Upon returning home from my little adventure, my baby was there to greet me!!

Most of those buildings on Fayetteville Street look raggedy anyways... Give me a canyon of glass any day.

.... alrighty then....

We finish near the top of the list year after year. Raleigh was ranked #4 in the "big cities" category. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bp.../PL3755000.html Cary also finished near the top spot. Cary finished at #5 on the list that didn't include large cities. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bp.../PL3710740.html

Haha. I know what you mean. Boylan Heights sits directly adjacent to the ghetto. Just make a left from Boylan Ave toward downtown on South or Lenoir streets. Literally, if you blink an eye, you're like where did that nice neighborhood go?
