  1. I would be okay with that. Regardless of the name, excited to see this team play next season -- it would be even better if it was NASL or obviously MLS...
  2. Sorry, but Charlotte Town is silly and I am British -- makes me think of Charlottetown, PEI. I really hope it isn't Charlotte Independence. My choice would be Charlotte Thunder (NASCAR, summer thunderstorms, links to past Carolina Lightnin'). Regardless, great to see soccer kick it into another gear.
  3. The renderings look great. I hope it works out for the Knights and they get their Uptown Stadium.
  4. Amen! A refurbished Memorial Stadium would be terrific for MLS -- the view of uptown Charlotte would be incredible. My vision would be for the new Major League Lacrosse team and a MLS team to partner together to renovate Memorial Stadium. As another poster stated, the Charlotte Eagles need to drop the Christian schtick. I'm not anti-Christian and the Eagles have done a terrific job over the years, but they are not a real reflection of the potential for pro soccer in Charlotte. GO SOUNDERS!!!
  5. That is great to hear. I was worried that the team would suffer the same fate as the Grrrowl. I am looking forward to seeing some games when I visit family in the Greenville area.
  6. has not set their status

  7. I travel through the airport quite frequently -- it may not be the Taj Mahal of airports, but for me it works fine. It definitely isn't the worst airport out there by any means. I can get in and out without too much trouble. At the end of the day that is what counts. To pump a pile of money into revamping the airport would be a total waste of money.
  8. I'm sure Gov. Sanford will be looking forward to that.

    The West End

Are there any Irish pubs or pubs in general in the West End?
  10. Maybe this would be a good location for a minor league ballpark -- easily accessible to both Fort Mill and Rock Hill. I'm not that fond of Knights Stadium. You'd hate to see the facility go to waste or get torn down, but its a rather sterile place to watch a game. A more intimate facility would be better for a Rock Hill team.
  11. Considering the continued/expected growth of Rock Hill and the planned relocation of the Knights to Uptown Charlotte, does anyone think it could support a minor league baseball team? I'd like to see a Class A (i.e. Sally) or High A league (i.e. Carolina League) and a ballpark located in downtown Rock Hill -- something similar to the West End/Fluor Field development in Greenville. I presume a potential stumbling block is the relative proximity of Rock Hill to Charlotte -- would Rock Hill fall within Knights territory? -- there's always the possibility of a new Indy league in the South.
  12. New park for North Charleston? http://charleston.net/news/2008/feb/26/greenspace31849/
  13. I just came back from Biloxi (first time). Tom -- I agree with your comments about building cheap casinos everywhere. Biloxi should definitely go for quality over quantity, but there has to be a solid plan in place. Does anyone think Biloxi has the potential to become a mini-Las Vegas? There's definitely a lot of appeal to the area with beaches, great food, etc.
  14. I was up there recently, too. I was really impressed with the entire complex. We are lucky to have a facility like that.
  15. Could anyone give me an idea of how much units are going for at The Vue ($ per sq ft) especially those incredible A1 units with two-story windows? Thanks!!!
