I will never get tired of looking at that view of the city...what a beautiful weekend it was too. Light Rail tracks are really moving along on brambleton in that photo...it's neat to see all the segments getting closer & closer to running into each other.
  10. So the parking garage is already finished...it took like a week lol....and yes it is an absolute monstrosity...I suggest everyone drive by just to see it's hideousness!

It looked like an Asian cultural festival of some sorts, just in the small area next to waterside, not the entire park. What's being built in Portsmouth on the waterfront? You can see the silt fences up in this photo, which I apparently didn't post here... http://www.new.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=...amp;id=13701583

  13. I'm pretty happy with how Norfolk has come along in the past year... I'd be a little more concerned for town center's ideals on "better use of space" at this point...

  16. Yep we can all see it...and it's definitely gone! Here's one of the flooding along the LRT path at york: Larger: Here I think most of that was induced by the erosion & sediment controls for the construction going on along york...since they filter water slower as it enters the stormdrain inlets, it backed up worse here then it should.

Nice photos man, you did a great job catching all the historic buildings along Granby especially! Here's a few more to add from last weekend when I was out & about: Larger: Here Larger: Here Larger: Here Larger: Here Larger: Here
  19. They're upgrading utilities, meaning water, sanitary sewer, and sewer force mains. They haven't altered any of the storm drainage piping along the rail path I don't think, at least in the downtown itself. I don't really see the huge issue with this type of flooding, it's bound to happen here at some point... people should plan for it and act accordingly, meaning dont park your vehicle in a spot you know is prone to flooding, and don't drive through 10' of water in a sedan... This is kinda what we should come to expect from living at 8 feet above sea level in an area that was historically ma
  20. Not that this has anything to do with the building starting, but...you gotta understand, warm weather...is the worst thing possible for construction...think about the workers...you think they want to work in 90 deg. weather? If it was up to them they'd only work in winter! I highly doubt developers even consider this aspect when drawing up their schedules...they figure, we want this thing built, along the current schedule, we'll find people willing to deal with it.

Nice photos man! I really like the one along Main Street...what a great angle, and the one with the HRT bus in it...can't wait till that bus becomes a light rail train! You seem to be down here every weekend taking photos, lemme know the next time you are goin and I'll join ya!
  22. LOL.... I agree with the parking garage statement, but, at least it is vertical and not taking up a lot of surface space. This is one thing Norfolk has yet to truly embrace, well planned, well hiddened garages...but oh well. At least this does provide density to an area that is currently lacking in it! Nice photos!
