Yes, we (SiTE:LAB) are using the building for Artprize this year. We will have 13 artists installing works in the basement, main floor and second floor - if anyone is interested in volunteering to help - we would love it! Some pre artists install shots that we have taken in the building. https://www.flickr.com/photos/site_lab/sets/72157646247011292/ And an article that came out today in the press. http://www.mlive.com/artprize/index.ssf/2014/08/artprize_2014s_sitelab_readies_historic_morton_house_for_exhibition_560000_contest.html#incart_river Rockford Construction is holding off on those sections as they work on other aspects of the building. They are building out a model unit on the first floor next to the main entrance. https://www.facebook.com/themortongr http://site-lab.org/
  2. SiTE:LAB is using it for an Artprize venue. http://www.artprize.org/sitelab-54-jefferson http://sitelab.tumblr.com/
  3. 54 Jefferson (the old public museum) Getting a little TLC.
  4. Thanks for the pictures. A couple of updates, the building will be used by SiTE:LAB for an exhibit during Festival (more than likely a collection of BFA students work from local universities- details are still being worked out). We will also be using the building as an Artprize venue. With a curated show of large scale site-specific works.
  5. A little update- next SiTE:LAB will be in the old JA building. And we are very excited to be able to bring some temporary life to building. http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2011/01/sitelab_nabs_abandoned_ja_buil.html Locus Development is planning on starting construction in Jan. 2012.
  6. I got to take a look around inside the building last fall (we were debating using it for ACTIVESITE {sodEmoji.|} artspace). It is in really rough shape on the inside (to rough for us to even consider using it- and for us that means really rough) but, wow, if someone could rehab it, that could be amazing. I loved what Project Propagate did with the exterior for Artprize last year. Hopefully this year it can be used again.
  7. You beat me to it- yes were are holding the next ACTIVESITE event in that space. We were in there the other night taking down the LB stickers of the windows and doing a little cleaning up/space planning. More details will be coming about our plans for the space during ArtPrize, we were pretty excited to get that as our location.
  8. We are not sure where the next ACTIVESITE will be. Odds are, it will probably be next fall, possibly in conjunction with ArtPrize. It was fun having a building right downtown for the last one. Thank for your support.
  9. Just got back form the announcement as well, sounds like a very cool idea, and they have the resources to pull it off. Looking forward to seeing it come together.
