  1. It looks like the city is going to raze and remove the old house that sits back off College just south of Formosa restaurant. That spot would make a nice little park, as it sits in the floodway as far as I know.
  2. Woodland has only been there for 50-something years. LOL. Yeah, the city discussed this year changing how they prioritize their sidewalk program. The whole midtown area is sorely lacking in sidewalk infrstructure compared to both newer and older parts of the city. Hopefully it catches up quickly.
  3. Green Acres Rd behind the old Arvest is getting new sidewalks. They did half of the street last year, and the other half is scheduled for this year. If Poplar was a signal at College, I think you could see some walkable redevelopment happen in that small area. I've never been to the new one. I'll have to check it out.
  4. I would not be disappointed to see Onyx move into a better location like the Arvest building with ample parking and better outdoor seating.
  5. Parking at Fort Smith is cheaper, too. If you live in Fayetteville, its only 1 hr, vs 30 minute drive, Fort Smith vs XNA. If you're hopping thru Dallas on American, sometimes you can save a couple hundred bucks by driving that extra 30 minutes each way. Security and check in at Fort Smith are a breeze, too.
  6. A veterinary school makes sense. A dental school attached to UAMSNW also makes sense. The BOT approved a new 70,000 SF "student success center" to be built directly north of Old Main, next to Memorial Hall. It's supposed to mimic the gothic styles of Memorial and Ozark (Gearhardt) Halls. It should be nice. I can't wait to see renderings.
  7. Onyx is the best coffee in the region. Maybe the best coffee in three states. They're already in the same general neighborhood, and a new Starbucks just opened up the road. I wonder how successful the other Bolder Coffee locations are.
  8. Interesting information. Thanks for sharing.
  9. I noticed the old AQ Express building is getting a new metal roof. Not sure if that means anything is going in there or not.
  10. West of Harps is a big apartment development. I think part of it wraps around to the north side.
  11. The World Gym property has a "For Sale" sign out front now. The gym is still operating for now.
  12. There are two projects underway in the "Mill District" at West Ave & Prairie. One is the mixed-use building where ABBC is supposed to put a new tap room, with two levels of apts above, and the other looks like more row houses. There are some lots nearby that aren't used-well that seem like they'd make sense for some intense development. When the ABBC opens, there's three places to eat/drink within a city block there. If Arsaga's ever does what they've said they were going to do at the former little gas station west of Woodstone, you have a really cool little cluster, with room for more. The library expansion is going to really connect that spot to downtown.
  13. IntaJuice is taking over the former Taco Bell spot north of Sycamore, on College Ave: https://www.fayettevilleflyer.com/2017/07/11/former-taco-bell-location-on-college-avenue-to-get-new-tenant/
  14. The Lumiere was reduced in height by 10 feet, which I think is a good thing, and some of the glass facade was replaced with more corten. The overall shape is still the same, although I don't know where to find a rendering of the revised plans.
  15. They will also be hindered by the restrictions on height next to single-family residential structures.
  16. New monthly and YTD numbers out today for XNA. It looks like it will definitely be another record year. http://talkbusiness.net/2017/07/arkansas-transportation-report-year-to-date-traffic-up-at-arkansas-three-largest-airports/ Where is that discount carrier???
  17. Puritan Beer & Coffee and Burton's Creamery are the first two restaurant/retail tenants announced for the Uptown building on Steele Blvd. https://www.fayettevilleflyer.com/2017/06/30/puritan-coffee-beer-set-to-open-uptown-location/
  18. The Starbucks next to CVS is finally up out of the ground. It took forever to get going, but it's actually going to happen.
  19. Ryan's is going to be offices for an engineering firm I believe.
  20. Bentonville seems to be aiming to be the cultural capital of Arkansas in some ways. At a minimum, they will have an "urban core" more fitting a city of 60-70k people than the one they had just a few years ago, designed for a city of 15,000 people.

    NWA Growth

The county estimates are confirmed further through today's release of city estimates. Benton County cities are growing just as quickly as last year, while Washington County has slowed down: Estimates of city Population as of July 1, 2016: Fayetteville – 83,826 added 996Springdale – 78,557 added 698 Rogers – 65,021, added 1,862Bentonville – 47,093, added 2,594
  22. I see a plumbing permit for a "Crisis Brewing Co" at 210 S. Archibald Yell Blvd, and I found this: http://crisisbrew.com/ I also see the permits are happening for the Prairie Street Apartments, which are the little development next door to Greenhouse Grille. Good for South Fay.
  23. The former Taco Bell on North College Ave is now showing as being "Under Contract".
  24. XNA outclasses JAN. Not a good comparison at all.
  25. Here's the finished product of the building that replaced the old EZ mart. Looks like it is a free-standing Verizon store. Nothing exciting, but a huge improvement for that lot.
