View from the south end of the property. You can start seeing the corner of the foundation being established.

  6. They're planning on charging $100 for a one-way ticket. ARE THEY NUTS????
  7. Ustler seems to understand that retail won't be successful unless you have more residents. He's got a good foothold in Uptown with new development. I hope they have a positive retail presence here as a result.
  8. That truly would be a great sector to develop. The lot across from LYNX could tie in and be a fantastic place to put retail. It's our mass transit hub. That's why it deserves more planning than i'm seeing, and I know if I realize this, i'm not the only one. Dream big, build big.
  9. I do, too. I'm witnessing it change every single day that I step outside my door. What i'm saying is, it's not like Uptown doesn't exist because it's been floating different names. It's currently an area in significant development, and in the next year alone will have more than 1000 new residents and 10k square feet of retail. Once the Sevens gets built, that'll help advance the area even further, both in vertical density, retail space, and more residents. And GDC is also helping develop more retail in the area as more people populate the area. But i'd suggest to not act like it's a waste of time for a project that's coming online at the exact same time that over 1000 more residents will be living less than a mile from is trying to build something for those residents to go TO. I think it's realistic and smart. These are projects that are either under construction, almost complete (Steelhouse), or seeking final approval (The Sevens). Uptown is changing in reality, not just in planning.
  10. That's because you don't live here. I do. Not really sure what your'e not buying.
  11. Uptown is not a vague concept. It is a working community with two developments being built right now, one more in the works, and two that already exist. It is EASILY walkable to this location. The only thing vague about Uptown anymore is the name of the area. And Uptown IS "downtown", too. Sorry, but I agree with none of the opposition to RIDA wanting to bring the residents of Uptown to downtown. It's a very smart idea. I just hope they do it right.
  12. This project was announced in October in 2011. Not only has it not been approved yet, but we don't even have an announced groundbreaking date yet. It was said that construction would start in the first quarter of 2013 and completion would be in May of 2014. At this point, I won't believe this project is actually happening until ground is officially broken and concrete is actually being poured.
  13. I think the reason why people are calling it a disappointment thus far is because people had grand visions for this block. It's the most centralized parcel left in all of downtown, and it's a crucial, bridging piece at the busiest mass transit hub Orlando will ever see. Building a 5-story apartment complex and a hotel seems to fall short of the mark some of us were hoping it would meet. The other thing that irks me about this is the amount of time it's taken for RIDA to submit for final approval. This project has been talked about for quite some time, and I understand the time window was supposed to bring the first phase online right with SunRail, but somehow I doubt that's going to happen at this point. I expected more than what we've seen so far. Let's see if they can turn it around. Basically, i'm tired of the lack of information associated with this project, and it's been talked about a little too long for my taste, and the plans have been scaled down since it's announcement twice, by my count. This property needs to be GRAND. It needs to be unifying. It needs to live up to the land it sits on. It needs to be our hub. I hope they truly understand that.
  14. Why is this project continuing to get smaller? And where was the mention of retail space? If this parcel doesn't contain a substantial amount of retail, it will absolutely be a waste of a huge opportunity for this city. Even NORA is taller than these apartments will be, too. Not liking where this is going.
  15. They're new business owners, so it's gonna get better with time.
  16. Eternal Tap has fantastic atmosphere. Really like that space. Any more news about the proposed bowling alley at the Exchange?

As you can see, the foundation on the parking garage has started, and support walls have begun to reach ground level.

http://www.csxsd40kid.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3241732 Very cool shot of the progress in Lake Mary. I used to work in this area, and it seemed like forever before they started construction at this station, but it's really coming along now.
  24. I've not heard any info about The Lucky Lure, Matador OR the development in Lake Highland. Kinda embarassing as I live right near it. Anybody point me in a direction? Can't find anything.

I really like how they're integrating all of the payment options and they've talked about being able to combine bus tickets to this machine. I really like it.
