  1. In the renderings they show a significant water feature running through the project, so it looks like they plan to put a positive spin on it.
  2. And I believe that is right next to the planned Top Golf, so it will be quite the little entertainment destination.
  3. Last year Wake County commissioned a 10-year strategic tourism plan and one of the big recommendations was an indoor multi sport facility. Specifically mentioned a 6-court minimum, but preferably 12-16 court facility with ability to seat 4,000-5,000 people. Would be used for basketball, volleyball, and wrestling tournaments.
  4. That's a good report, I read it every year. Raleigh has been on an upward trajectory, and it is pretty impressive to be #2 out of 80 major metros. As you point out, the cities often cited as Raleigh's competitors also doing very well.

    N&O Site

Agreed. This location is begging for additional height. It is really one of the top handful of sites in the city. One block off Fayetteville, next to the square, almost a full block, it would really fill in the gap in the skyline if it were 40 or (gasp) 50 stories. I'm glad it is being redeveloped, but wish they had gone for a rezoning. Maybe in a later phase?
  6. Looking forward to seeing the plans and renders for this! I'm honestly surprised it was approved.
  7. I really like the view of Skyhouse, PNC, and Red Hat from the new Moore Square. Would be great to get some more towers to fill it out and layer the view more.
  8. I'm looking forward to this as well. I am not much of a golfer but I like going to the driving range every now and then. I think I will enjoy driving range + drinks + games. I think this will be a great activity for a small group of friends to go and do for an hour or two.

    One Glenwood

I think this area is going to look good when Tower 2 is up and the courtyard between that and one Glenwood is activated. I am a little bummed about the loss of the building that Dram and Draught is in now. That is a cool little building the really has some character. I think overall it is worth it. Pretty soon the Fayetteville Street area, the Warehouse district and Glenwood South are all going to feel connected, which will make downtown as a whole feel larger.
  10. I think there is some good info in there, but I have to laugh that Raleigh commissioned a report comparing itself to other cities and it came out #1. It's a bit like me commissioning a report comparing myself to movie stars and I come out as the most handsome.
  11. Raleigh is growing and should continue to do so for the foreseeable future. That being said it is probably never going to feel like Boston and probably not even like Atlanta. At least not for a very long time. Raleigh Transit will improve but not in exponential way. The city is working on BRT now and there should be a commuter rail within a decade. I am not seeing much chance for light rail anytime in the foreseeable future since Wake County rejected Light Rail and the Durham orange Light Rail Project died earlier this year. As for timing, 2021 is only two years from now. It is doubtful that much if anything that has on not already been announced will be complete by then. We should have a few new towers such as 301 Hillsborough, FNB, Smokey Hollow, and possibly the Nexus project. Hopefully RUSBus and the new city hall will be under construction. I think the closest things to a game-changer we reasonably can hope for is progress on Dix Park and the Kane - Malik project south of downtown and that possibly getting an MLs slot.
  12. We knew that 301 Hillsborough was supposed to kick off later this year and we knew that pendo was looking for new space, but it is great to have confirmation that those two things are actually happening. I hope this encourages more development downtown. The Dillon and One Glenwood have both done very well.

    One Glenwood

They maxed out the allowable height. If the zoning had allowed for 20 stories parking would have been built in to the first tower.
  14. What does everyone think about this location for a sports venue? I would love for downtown to have something where you could go out for food or drink and catch a game. This is close to downtown but not really walkable. So is it really that much different from something being further out?
  15. Thanks for the clarification. Will be a huge win for whoever gets it.
