  1. ^ Tom Gores (owner of the Pistons) and Dan Gilbert are still working on getting a MLS stadium built at Wayne County's "Fail Jail" site downtown as part of a wider development. The current Detroit City FC (not MLS) is playing at the recently-renovated Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck.
  2. A larger project in collaboration was done with the city of Monmouth in Wales. It would be interesting to see a similar endeavor happen in Grand Rapids: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monmouthpedia
  3. ^ See Franklin Partners, LLC's post on their facebook page to confirm what he is alluding to.
  4. This is why we always drive down to Kalamazoo and leave from there instead.
  5. I've thought the same. I used to work in a factory off of Hall street there, so I would drive through everyday. Some of the old factory/warehouse buildings are really great. If you ever get the chance, there is a coffee roasting shop in the building at the corner of Hall and Godfrey that is a neat experience. ...The old brick road still exists underneath Godfrey as well!
  6. The Menai Suspension Bridge in Wales is a nice example. The longest span is 577 feet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menai_Suspension_Bridge
  7. You could even extend building C so that it makes an L-shape along I-196. Put a parking ramp on the lower floors and residential on the floors that extend above the highway.
  8. ^ I was thinking the same thing; at least develop part of the site so there is a streetwall along Monroe. What lots are owned by MSU? Are they likely to want to sell their property there?
  9. Heartside Ministry is going to move from the current space at 54 S Division to Tini Bikini's old space. The first phase of construction, restoring the damaged storefront, will take place from April to June. http://www.grbj.com/articles/81727
  10. I would rather see 196 removed between its start at I-96 until M-6 merges with it near Hudsonville before this. Then, rebrand M-6 to carry 196. Doing something with 131 wouldn't be bad either, though.
  11. I don't necessarily mind the expansion of ArtPrize, but is Dallas really the right city to be expanding to?
  12. In other news, it was announced that H&M will open another store, 21% larger than their Woodland location at Tanger Outlets. The article doesn't make it clear on if this will actually be an outlet-styled shop or not: http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2014/11/hm_confirms_a_second_bigger_st.html#incart_related_stories
  13. If a city leader is that bad, get the people to vote that person out of office. Term limits at the local level can hamper longevity of good leadership while doing nothing to prevent bad leadership.
  14. Grand Traverse Distillery will open up shop in the Downtown Market next month: http://www.grbj.com/articles/80977-craft-spirits-maker-pours-into-downtown

    CWD

CWD does also own 50 Monroe. Bank of America's branch in the Trust Building is closing later this year, so Huntington will fill in that space. The article says that this will bring the Trust Building up to about 80% occupied; nothing was mentioned on how full 50 Monroe will be.
