While it’s not much, this company sounds like they want to expand in downtown as opposed to the burbs, which could potentially help fill more space in the future. Also Riverstone keeps hinting throughout the article that they are on the brink of landing a “white whale” tenant who could almost completely fill up the building and won’t give out signage rights for the building. I think we might be seeing a big move to RVA soon!

  3. No growthersbin the burbs shot it down. They will soon be squashed when the east west freeway gets built within the next 20 years and that site is covered in suburbs sprawl. Th east end though has multiple sites that are perfect for a possible mega site though so if it happens, it will happen there.

  5. This is a completely different site. The address is right across Belvedere from the ICA so this is absolutely perfect!

  9. Personally I fine with it. It could actually end up freeing up surface parking and seeing how this will be used almost solely for the science museum, it could decrease the need for parking elsewhere in the area, possibly leading to more green space and more development.
  10. In the map at the bottom of the page, the location stays it’s on the vacant lot. I’m not 100% positive, but I don’t think they would have a pinpointed location on a map if they didn’t have a general idea. Hopefully, the city forces them to go to another location in the city, say in the museum district or near Cary town.
  11. It appears that this will be on the city center site. This better be a good looking building, because it will be taking up a large section of prime real estate.
  12. The Midlothian area is booming in apartment development right now. I see a lot of these projects living in the area and with all the developments near Winterfield Road, plus the developments at Watkins, which is going to be mixed use and dense, a commuter rail line or BRT line to Midlothian could become a very real possibility as many areas up and down the turnpike are poised for major redevelopment.

  14. They said in the RTD article that it could be placed on any land that is currently or was once owned by the Paumunkey. I have no idea how much they once controlled but it could lead to it being closer to I-64. Although, even if it stays on the reservation, it could be huge in spurring growth.

  16. Speaking of the James center, the massive planned renovation has begun and will eventually lead to a redesigned lobby. As far as the calm before the storm, I think it will be a big spring. I think VCU and the Squirrels will finally end the ballpark debate once and for all and announce plans to build a stadium at the old ABC warehouse. The Farrell proposal will probably be released in the coming weeks. There will also probably be a few more projects proposed, which could be very interesting, in terms of size and scope. I guess we will have to wait and find out what happens, but it feels like something big is going to happen in the coming weeks.
  17. Awesome new development. This will hopefully add density to that intersection and turn that into a hub for development and revitalization. Thanks for the info!
  18. Hopefully. Both the NYC airports are overloaded with traffic and most likely don’t have room to accommodate the hub for another airline. The upstate New York cities don’t pose a threat. Really we would only have to worry about other VA airports.
  19. The first bridge is gonna be quite the gateway to the whole region for all travelers coming from the south. Hope to see Petersburg recover and prosper, it could help the region as a whole in a number of ways.
  20. This seemed pretty obvious. Not many private developers would get into a project on this scope in a city of this size, when they would have competition from a group of local investors. I think the city had been planning to go with the task forces proposal all along, and with the short deadline and numerous requirements, it seemed highly unlikely another developer would have stepped in alone. Anyway, glad that this is moving through because it appears the Ferrell’s group has huge plans for the site. Can’t wait to see the full proposal and possible renderings.
