  1. I’d love to see this project extend the farmers market all the way from Main to Broad.
  2. Same here. This is a very exciting project for development junkies as these projects only come around once every few decades. I wanna see how big these developers are thinking!
  3. Tell you the truth, the more I look at this tower, the more it grows upon me. This tower is gonna really boost street presence in downtown. It has a lot of residences and has great street presence, plus it’s gonna add to the canal walk. It may not be the best looking building, but I think it could really impact downtown.
  4. I think our best option is mixed use, with say 10 floors office, ground floor retail, a 4 story podium parking garage, a 10 story hotel and 15 stories residential. That could produce a huge tower and it is usually a guaranteed success for developers as the don’t bank solely on a single market to attract. I believe that this could be what we start seeing more of in the case no more major companies decide to move large operations downtown and we continue to see smaller companies moving in.
  5. It will be 4 stories. You can tell by the glass. It starts after the 4th floor on the north side of the building while it starts on ground level on all other sides.
  6. It adds so much density to that area, hopefully developments like this expand east into Monroe Ward.
  7. I 100% agree. The facade looks so much better than it did in the renderings. I love how it has more of a platinum grey look than it did in the renderings. It really differentiates itself in terms of architecture. It is different from all the boxes that surround it, and with it being the second tallest building in the city, it will definently make its mark. It will look even better when they add the crown to the top of it.
  8. It’s really lookin good. Hopefully it is so successful that they have to expand to the surrounding counties and areas like the east end, Jeff Davis and north side.
  9. Looks like the school of engineering expandsion will finally happen! https://richmondbizsense.com/2018/01/22/92-addition-slated-vcu-school-engineering/
  10. I'd like to see something finally materialize on the boulevard (I know I'm probably asking to much). I'd like to hear an announcement about an expansion of pulse either to the airport and short pump or staples mill and down Jeff Davis. A new airline for RIC with flights west would also be a feasible goal. I'd like to see something big come from whichever developer is selected to redevelop the arena. I'd also like to see the 2 16 story towers near mayo bridge and possibly more apartments and retail built downtown to increase street presence. Finally, more work on improving the canal walk between the locks and Browns island to could do wonders for the riverfront.
  11. This is huge for Wilmington. Hopefully these flights do well and more are added to future destinations.
  12. It seems like if more people decided to build large amounts of residential downtown..... Cough cough.... Fountainhead..... Cough cough...., then maybe we would see retail become more successful downtown.
  13. RIC just recorded the busiest month on record. Let's hope this growth keeps up! http://www.richmond.com/business/local/in-october-richmond-international-airport-breaks-record-for-passenger-traffic/article_566d8b43-2762-54ac-a3a1-5894db101d56.html
  14. Sadly I have to agree. For some cities, height just isn't their thing. I think Richmond will turn out to become one of those cities (as much as I don't want it to). Richmond could very easily resemble a more European city with American architecture. I would definently be willing to give up height if we could get density and transit that has plagued most US cities. Let's just hope that which ever path the city takes, it builds transit capable of sustaining this growth.
  15. They just need to change the facade in my opinion. The height isn't bad and it added canal presence, but the facade of the building is flat out ugly, kinda like the old Richmond Plaza building.
  16. Sad about the height reduction and new design of the tower, but from the description, it should help engage the street front and canal front much more. I just can't get over the design of the building. https://richmondbizsense.com/2017/11/20/58m-12-story-tower-slated-along-canal/
  17. Personally, I like trench option, where the tracks would be covered in a trench by possibly an extension of the station, and a park. It would be cheaper than building tunnels and there wouldn't be anywhere close to the amount of backlash from the town. It would be similar to decking a sunken expressway.
  18. The news about VA Beach is not coincidental at all. The city was waiting to unveil news on this until they knew for certain that the VA Beach deal was going to fall through. This means that this will most likely include a 17-18,000 seat arena like the bizsense article mentioned. Huge news for the city and the whole region as this could possibly draw... Dare I say... A pro sports team. The sky is the limit for this proposal so hopefully Stoney is ambitious in his proposal and timetable for the project!
  19. I'm positive Dominion said there would be retail along Cary street. I think it was 5,000 feet but don't quote me on it. I can't find an article about it but I would check the project site on either Pickard Chilton or Clayco to find out for sure.
  20. So according to Co-stars CEO, Richmond actually has a shot at landing this. Who knows. I would guess that if someone who knows Bezos personally and is the CEO of a company that specializes in real estate analytics, their word would mean something. While it would throw the housing market into a frenzy, this would bring so many benefits and could be a real feather in Richmonds cap on a business standpoint. Personally, I am torn between Tree Hill and the Boulevard property as Tree Hill could help with development in the east end and would lead to more transportation options for a part of the region that is very underdeveloped compared to right across the river. As for the boulevard, it is right near the Pulse, has the possibility for a high speed rail station and is in a more urban environment. Either site would be perfect for Amazon as they both have infrastructure that could handle a lot of amazons traffic or could be improved to do so. Very exciting times! http://www.richmond.com/business/local/richmond-has-shot-at-landing-amazon-s-headquarters-costar-ceo/article_27744e3d-059c-5d2d-8ed8-d256af70ee55.html
  21. The 6-8 gate expansion of concourse A that has been proposed for awhile looks like it is finally going to happen. YAY!!! http://www.richmond.com/business/local/expansion-at-richmond-international-s-concourse-a-on-the-horizon/article_76afb433-a396-5ef0-abe2-a7c114f5d5f7.html
  22. This thing is gonna be tall for the amount of floors. I know this has been said before but just watching it rise. It's closing in on their current building and they still have 6 more floors to go!
  23. No, I was thinking of the ice district in Edmonton. That includes the new Rogers Place arena. Here's a link to an article on it: https://www.retail-insider.com/retail-insider/2017/5/ice-district
  24. That's dissapointed get cus I love the design of that building. Maybe Uphoff will trade the former hess property for his current property.
