  1. I think best case scenario is that Saks takes the vacant Nordstrom space when their Stony Point lease expires.
  2. Damn, that sucks if it's true. Hopefully you're wrong about the likelihood of never coming back. Although unlikely in the next year or two, there's now at least a record of an airline seeing some demand for this route. It would be pretty unfair to the Richmond region if our only shot at a Vegas flight was in the middle of an industry-crippling pandemic. Here's hoping the LAX route is doing well. Edit - on second read, I don't think that article necessarily means this is a permanent cut by JetBlue. This is just their February schedule, which hopefully means that it can and will be reinstated.
  3. Where did you see this rumor? I'd hate for RIC to lose Southwest, even though it seems they haven't at all tried to tap into the potential market here.
  4. JetBlue to add Richmond flights to LOS ANGELES(!), LAS VEGAS(!), and TAMPA later this year!!! https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200910005309/en/
  5. My understanding of the TIF is to earmark the real estate taxes collected for the properties in the TIF. The tax assessment for the WestRock building wouldn't reduce if it lost Costar as a tenant, so that shouldn't affect the city coffer's bottom line. The real estate taxes for new Costar building would obviously go to pay back the city's bonds for the arena (until those are paid in full), but that would be additional (i.e. new) taxes on a previously untaxed parcel - essentially creating something where there is now nothing - and the city would continue to collect the same taxes it's been collecting on Costar's previous home. Then, of course, you have the additional taxes the additional Costar positions would bring to the City such as sales tax, personal property tax, etc. etc. Am I understanding the idea of the TIF incorrectly?
  6. I went to school in Winston-Salem for a few years and I recall most locals having a less complimentary name for that building...
  7. There are several of those old Arby's signs rusting away in a lot off of Hermitage (I assume the local franchisee HQ). It's a shame to see the former highway icons like that, you can see them if you zoom in on Google street view here: https://www.google.com/maps/@37.5627689,-77.4604075,3a,15y,267.77h,89.72t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sUcsIuPE6h5x_EPyxRUSazg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
  8. New update. We now have some structure in place.
  9. Concourse A expansion well under way!
  10. Is it possible to "unpin" some of the pinned threads on this board? It's obviously a very minor inconvenience in the greater scheme of things, but needing to check for new threads at the top of the page and then scrolling down and checking again under all the pinned threads seems unnecessary, especially when the newest post not in this thread or the "Richmond Developments" thread is over three years old. Perhaps only those two could be left as pinned topics. I may be the only detractor, but thought I would throw out the suggestion...
  11. Did United pull the Denver route off of their mainline? I recently booked a flight for mid-March and it seems like all the planes flying at that time are Embraers, no 737s or A319s. The last Airbus flying that route I could find was scheduled in February...
  12. I saw some articles today about United expanding service and adding 22 new routes, mostly at EWR and IAD. All of the articles mentioned that United was also adding service to other destination including, among a few others, Richmond. No new routes were mentioned from RIC, so does anyone know what this means? Upgrading existing routes, adding additional service on existing routes? Would love to see some new destinations along with the expansion of currents...
  13. It's awesome to see these numbers coming in. It sounds like the new Nashville route is doing well, happy to hear that and I hope it becomes permanent. Someone call Southwest and tell them they're missing a lot of potential at RIC. Also, does anyone know the reason for Jetblue's steep decline while all others grew??
  14. Great! Really looking forward to this one. because I live about a mile away. I got worried I hadn't seen any dirt move and then didn't see Richmond as a "coming soon" location on their website (don't know if it ever was but several others are listed).
  15. Has there been any update on the new Topgolf? I can't find anything online for the last six months and it doesn't look like anything has been done at the site. Really hope this didn't fall through....
  16. My intel came from someone I know who at the time worked for Dodson Commercial. He said the plan was to build a ~15 story residential building on the site of those 3-4 dilapidated buildings. That's been couple years ago though, and he's no longer there. Maybe plans changed?
  17. Whew maybe I'll finally be vindicated for the possibly-premature scoop on that 300 block of Broad development.
  18. That's awesome news! I really hope that route does well and more flights are added, along with new routes to other cities. Looking at RIC's wiki page, it seems like the OneJet service to Pittsburgh has been eliminated? I see Richmond is still an option on OneJet's website, but didn't find any flights available with a couple searches - are they gone?
  19. Could this finally be Frontier with some more routes to the west (like....Seattle )??? http://www.nbc12.com/story/36833163/ric-to-announce-new-airline-on-tuesday
  20. I've noticed over the last week or so that extensive site work seems to be going on at the NW corner of Boulevard and Robin Hood (catty-corner from the Ashe center). I remember a while back (I would guess at least 2 years), there was news of a Wawa going in either at that corner or next to it where the abandoned BP gas station is now, but I'd assumed that project was dead as it's been so long. I don't know if this is that or something else, but there's a lot of activity going on.
  21. I assumed the hotel that article referenced was the one tied up in this litigation: http://richmondbizsense.com/2017/05/11/developer-files-counterclaim-in-alley-scrap/ ...or is that a separate development?
  22. When did the RIC-JAX route end? I wasn't aware of that. I flew it last October and it was full or almost full. That's really disappointing, I'm ready to see new cities ADDED, not removed...
  23. Has there been any news on the Crowne Plaza conversion to the boutique Marriott brand, or the new hotel across the street from Penny Lane / John Marshall?
  24. This is the same block from my post back in July, hadn't heard anything about it in a while, but glad it may be gaining some momentum. If my source was correct back then, they're considering a ~15 story apartment building there! I hope that pans out.
