  1. The Montford flatiron building is up for final BAR approval at this coming week's meeting. I wish this building had another 2-3 floors.
  2. The city is seeking a full-time Annexation Planner on its employment web page. This position was eliminated several years ago. Happy to see the city getting serious about annexation again.
  3. First Capital Bancshares Inc is re-locating it's headquarters from North Carolina to Charleston according to the Post and Courier.
  4. Construction of roads and utilities is scheduled to begin in the spring (finally) in the long awaited Magnolia project. The first 20-acre of the development will include office, retail and apartments on the south end of the Magnolia 190-acre tract according to the Post and Courier.
  5. I remember this project going through the BAR review process several years I thought the project had died.
  6. Charleston’s City Planning Commission voted unanimously Wednesday night (12/15) to allow the building of an affordable housing development on 12 acres of land on Johns Island. 150 max units planned on tract on River Road. Charleston approves plan to allow Johns Island affordable housing development (live5news.com)
  7. This is probably most detailed map I've seen showing Charleston's city limits. Amazing the number of donut holes (that hopefully will start going away in 2022). Map (charleston-sc.gov)
  8. Proposed 5 floor, 55-unit affordable apartment building at 678/666 King St. _12082021-7073 (charleston-sc.gov) (I can't get the BAR-L link for 12/8/21 with the architectural renderings to load.)
  9. CHS is looking into ways to expand the airport campus with a new temporary modular concourse and other temporary additions. Airport leaders discuss temporary terminal, parking lots as part of needed expansion | WCBD News 2 (counton2.com)
  10. Per a Post and Courier article yesterday, Pinnacle Financial Services will be leasing the entire 11th floor in the Morrison Yard office building currently under construction.
  11. Interesting editorial in the Post & Courier yesterday (NOV 28) concerning annexing doughnut holes in the St Andrews PSD. The editorial advocates that leaders of the PSD and the city should work together to conduct an election to have the entire PSD consolidate into the city. I doubt anything comes of this but it's at least good that the idea is being presented publicly. Editorial: Charleston should gobble up West Ashley doughnut holes, all of them | Editorials | postandcourier.com
  12. There's been several Riverland Terrance annexations over the past few months. A house here and a house there but some progress. The utility line undergrounding though might drive annexation interest in the coming months as there are advantages being in the city versus the county. There is a lot of interest on city council and the mayor to get Riverland Terrace completely in the city.
  13. I had to make a run to a Short Pump outparcel shopping center this past Saturday afternoon and was really surprised if not shocked at the number of cars at the Town Center.
  14. Here's a nice video presentation of Morrison Yard that is currently under construction on Morrison Drive: https://www.cfevans.com/projects/morrison-yard/
  15. Thanks again for posting your pics!
  16. ^^^ NICE PICs! Thanks for sharing.
  17. Charleston City Council is finally trying to address the doughnut hole issue, mainly in West Ashley. The first step is completing an inventory of all properties that lie within the doughnut holes to get an assessment of the task at hand of eliminating them. I have my doubts this will really go anywhere but who knows.
  18. Planned upgrades in the works for Volvo Car Stadium on Daniel Island: https://charlestonbusiness.com/news/hospitality-and-tourism/79448/?utm_term=Tennis stadium to undergo renovations on Daniel Island&utm_campaign=Thursday's headlines from the Charleston Regional Business Journal&utm_content=email&utm_source=Act-On+Software&utm_medium=email
  19. Perhaps I'm being a homer, but I don't see N Charleston surpassing Charleston. Charleston, although annexations have greatly slowed down, still has thousands of undeveloped acres inside its existing city limits, not to mention future developments such as Magnolia and Laurel Island. N Charleston passing Columbia could happen I suppose but that would be closer to the 2030 census. Really need to first see the 2020 census comes out to get a better picture though.
  20. Thanks! Personally I would like to witness this live.
  21. Replacement of Capers Hall on The Citadel campus to commence May 2021: https://charlestonbusiness.com/news/construction/78582/?utm_term=The Citadel prepares to replace Capers Hall&utm_campaign=Tuesday's headlines from the Charleston Regional Business Journal&utm_content=email&utm_source=Act-On+Software&utm_medium=email
  22. Magnolia Project (finally) gets underway: https://www.live5news.com/2020/05/25/magnolia-project-underway-develop-neck-peninsula/ Phase I will occur at the SE quadrant of the development.
  23. New Daniel Island waterfront park moving forward: https://www.live5news.com/2020/05/20/new-waterfront-park-coming-daniel-island/ (I emailed WCSC to let them know there is no "Town of Daniel Island".)
  24. DHEC accepting public comments on proposed 2 -lane bridge that would connect the main peninsula to Laurel Island. https://www.live5news.com/2020/04/24/dhec-taking-public-comment-possible-new-downtown-bridge/
