  1. If they already had a massive shelter in the form of the overpass, I don't see why they would build the crosswalk *just slightly* outside of its coverage. Wouldn't that just incentivize jaywalking under it to stay out of rain etc?
  2. No, that's not good enough. You need to pitch in your prediction that we will or won't.

I don't personally see any problem with being "over-PC" in the first place. If you want to change your own language to try to offend fewer people, that's your prerogative.
  4. I might just be behind the times, but what is the obsession with "de-malling" malls? I don't see what benefit it confers to take an interior space and make it exterior, or why it seems a foregone conclusion that it's the only way forward.
  5. Here's to hoping they pull out all the stops and build the new tallest building in GR. (a girl can dream...)
  6. Thanks for the detailed reply. I've been wanting to get a few historical questions answered elsewhere as well, so I might just have to stop by. I do have a second, unrelated question. Do you know when the Bond Ave/196 underpass was shuttered? Personally, I can't figure why it was even built in the first place with Monroe so close to hand and nothing to connect up with to the south (what with Vandenberg Center being in the way).
  7. Same reason they vacated the space two(?) ArtPrize's ago after showing only one or two of the planned lineup of films. Still a little (read: lot) bitter about making the trek out from the burbs with an older relative only to find the place closed with no indication of what happened.
  8. Does anyone know the story with this Victorian holdout on Cherry?
  9. We oughtta build some high-rise automated parking garages like they have in Japan. Then no one could complain about the wasted space of a parking ramp, all we'd have to contend with would be the aesthetics of enormous featureless towers dotting the skyline and also the high cost and maintenance.
  10. Fun Fact part deux: in olden times, it was occupied by Rathbun Block and Messmore Block on Monroe and Morey Block on Pearl. An alley separated them from Ledyard's Block, which still stands to this day as the Ledyard Building. https://grpl.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p16055coll17/id/11/rec/4
