Amazon: The Thread | 5,000 Jobs | 1M SQFT in Nashville Yards

self-serving ... this only continues the slow bleed of NYC corporate growth "New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio slammed tech-giant Amazon over the weekend; claiming their decision to abandon plans for a Big Apple headquarters was an example of “abuse of corporate power.” “This is an example of an abuse of corporate power,” said de Blasio on ‘Meet the Press’ Sunday. “Amazon just took their ball and went home. And what they did was confirm people’s worst fears about corporate America.” “They said they wanted a partnership, but the minute there were criticisms, they walked away,” he added. “What does that say to working people that a company would leave them high and dry simply because some people raised criticisms?”
  2. This is a new rendering...at least an updated perspective of the AEG development. I think the perspective is from Commerce looking NE. NICE Also... this was interesting....I wonder where the additional 1.5 acre option is located? It may be behind the Holiday Express property.

Of course they were there for the tax breaks.... And there is no question this Hurts NYC...they give up 27 billion in new tax revenue (30B - the 3B tax break)

    CBD/SoBro/RutledgeHill/Rolling Mill Hill Projects

Under what rationale should you have any say in what goes at this location? Not being snarky but seriously? The market already has a say at what will go at the location. Of course in the long run folks that live and work downtown do have a say...they can decide to not support a business. However, visitors to our fair city also deserve a say and they may choose to party down and make the bar a big success.

Best write-up I have read on the outcome... (emphasis mine) https://www.city-journal.org/amazon-cancels-queens-hq?fbclid=IwAR20ZKjfwcoqAjQmxKTb9-I74c-2M0DFK6AswwkGAIY5PzrbBfdzE5XsuqI
  10. Interesting variation between the renderings...especially the signage on top of the Grand Hyatt instead of on the building New rendering just placed on the construction fencing - Older Rendering from earlier in this thread -

bush league , IMO there is no homage to the sport's historic clubs .. and yes, the highlighter yellow is off-putting

The Stand Up (Sit Down ?) Nashville group are the perfect example of 'community' organizations who provide politicians (yes liberals in all cases I have seen) cover for voting to grow a city by palming off additional tax dollars to not stir the PR pot. Amazon calling the bluff of the anti-incentive crowd is the best lesson for all politicians willing to learn - "This is a free market, no one is forcing communities to put incentive packages together to bring new jobs and industry to your city. We will just go down the road ...have a great day. This cuts the legs out from under the 'Sit Down Nashville' organization ...they just do not know it yet.

Reads like a JV Green New Deal I am not sure what they are demanding Amazon to actually do?

^ you can stay inside and pray all you want ...back here on earth... I see 3.5 billion in federal funds (allocated under false pretenses as everyone knew the pie-in-the sky cost and time-frame projections were laughable) wasted on another high-speed rail delusion
