There is a building being demolished on Woodward near Warren. I've heard all kinds of speculation as to what WSU is doing there but nothing confirmed. Here are pictures from a couple days ago.

I meant to post this, the Free Press Building is a beauty. I regularly check the forum and go to take pictures in Detroit. I took so many pictures in the UP I didn't get to posting them but I will try to soon.

Downtown Flint construction, projects & Photo post
ZachariahDaMan replied to Pachuco's topic in Flint
U-of-M Flint has shown some interest in restoring and using the Capitol Theatre. The catch? It would cost about $25 million. It's a long shot in my opinion but this would be HUGE for downtown Flint if it happened. http://www.mlive.com/news/flint/index.ssf/2010/04/looking_at_new_life_for_landma.html -
The Guthrie Coke Building (Chestnut and Fourth Street, 1883) was sold for $1.2 million. Developer Bill Weyland wants to turn it into retail, office or other commercial uses on street level and 20 or more apartments on the upper three floors. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20091202/BUSINESS/91202010/1003/Guthrie+Coke+Building+purchased+for+$1.2+million

In response to number 1, the facade of the Fine Arts Building/Adams Theatre was saved. I'm sure you know that Jim, but just to clarify for people that haven't been downtown in a while.

In that last picture....what are those buildings being turned into?

Here is a little article about 6 projects that have been approved for brownfield tax credits. I'm glad to see the Forest Arms apartments on there. There was a big fire a while a back http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanessamiller/2247376485/ I'm surprised to see the that the Scott Castle (James Scott Mansion) will be turned into apartments and condo's. I figured it would just sit there and get demolished one day. http://www.flickr.com/photos/detroitderek/2281128266/ I'm curious to know what 7 building near Eastern Market are being turned into townhomes and apartments.

2 brothers got an ok from the city to renovate the GAR building and move their video production firm there. Hopefully this will actually happen in the near future. I thought it was supposed to be renovated a while back. http://www.freep.com/article/20090215/BUSI...owntown+Detroit

No, but on wikipedia there is a picture taken of where the building once stood. If that helps any. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Amsterdam_Historic_District

Would anyone happen to have a picture of or know the name of the building that stood at 425 York? It was part of the New Amsterdam Historic District and demolished by WSU.

The Wayne Theatre we discussed on page 12 was demolished in September. I noticed the empty lot when I was driving through downtown Wayne today. Also, a building I took a picture of in downtown Wayne just over 3 years ago was demolished in September 2006. It is the 2 story building to the right of the Village Bar. http://www.journalgroup.com/Wayne/1117/his...s-wrecking-crew
