  1. David Cox must be having a conniption. I'm sure the bubbas will make sure these buildings never see the light of day.
  2. Where are the people? As said before, during my last trip to DT Durham I was shocked at how few people were around. Meanwhile traffic from RDU down 147 towards Durham was a nightmare. Typically Triangle - traffic going nowhere.
  3. Nope. It is on the existing Venable site where Precision Biosciences is located.
  4. They have Disney World and Disney Land, all they need now is Disney Burbia.
  5. It's amazing that they don't take these details into account.
  6. Never underestimate Raleigh's adeptness at missing opportunities (probably on purpose) and building "non-offensive" boxes of schlock.
  7. The business HQs are but not any R&D facilities. BMS has their main R&D out in New Brunswick, NJ and Pfizer has theirs out in Groton, Connecticut.
  8. It's Durham, of course they will fumble it. I was there in May for business and the downtown was deader than dead.
  9. Considering my business is biotech, I think I have an idea of where the innovation centers are as I travel regularly to the Boston and San Francisco areas but never have any reason to go to NC. As reference, let's look at BioSpace's year over year list of innovative biotech companies. NC has barely any representation. The same could be said for VC investment. https://www.biospace.com/article/1-top-20-life-science-startups-to-watch-in-2019/ https://www.biospace.com/article/exclusive-top-20-life-science-startups-to-watch-in-2018/ https://www.biospace.com/article/the-next-generat
  10. I will re-iterrate that NC (mainly the Triangle as it is the state's biotech/pharma hub) has put their eggs in the biomanufacturing basket and has not made real strides in the R&D for some time. Great if you want low- to mid-paying jobs but the area is really losing its rep as an innovation center.
  11. Don't sully FLW with comparisons to this crud. Remember he did design the Guggenheim in NYC.
  12. Stand corrected on GSK. However, RTP is manufacturing heavy otherwise - timely announcement illusrating this point: https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2019/01/08/fujifilm-to-add-100-jobs-at-rtp-campus-through-45m.html?iana=hpmvp_trig_news_headline
  13. Back to the future! https://www.nytimes.com/1999/05/16/us/corporate-park-s-bucolic-appeal-is-lost-in-traffic.html
  14. Most of the pharma companies still located in the Park (GSK, Biogen etc.) do not maintain a significant R&D presence - these are primarily biomanufacturing sites.
  15. And based on the article, there is no plan except to slap together something here and something there. Willard Retail is some 2-bit hack strip mall developer so you can only imagine the cr-p they are going bring.
  16. Flailing. They are only 20 years behind. That combined with the non-existent transportation plan may be the end of RTP's run. Most R&D has left with only lower wage manufacturing being left behind.
  17. Oh god, even Greensboro has a "midtown" now?
  18. Nothing but nonsense news as it was a slow day in the Triangle. Rick Smith, that hack at the Local Tech Wire, has no credibility and is usually the one drumming this sh-t up.
  19. I will bet my life savings that this will NOT be Apple!
  20. The more I hear about this project, the more bizarre it appears. Only Raleigh could pull something this boneheaded off.
  21. Capital Realty Group appear to be modern day slum lords specializing in government-subsidized housing - far from a win for Raleigh.
  22. That sounds like a disaster! Wasn't the ballroom the standout feature of this building?
  23. Not surprising. I guess the hype over a mediocre hamburger lasted one millisecond. On a more global take, I just don't see downtown Raleigh supporting national brands that rely on high volume, so good luck Urban Outfitters etc.
  24. Don't miss the "spend my entire day in my car" lifestyle of the Triangle.
