  1. uh oh, watch out...here comes the next Atlanta!
  2. what would you say is the most upscale mall in Birmingham; also- what is an emerging upscale area in metro Birmingham
  3. I love the skyline going north on I-85. The skyline just hits you, like the emerald city. When you go south into the city, you see a little bit of the skyline at a time- that has its advantages though
  4. What's with the animosity towards Charlotte? Just wondering
  5. What do you think the larger city skylines like Atlanta's will look like
  6. Give me a break. I mean, I get annoyed with those SUV wielding suburban soccer moms and strip malls just as much as you but to call all of us selfish is going way too far. And you think you're any better? You moved to Atlanta for yourself as well. And you don't think you're causing problems in the inner city? Consider the fact that because you're willing to buy a house or a condo or whatever in Atlanta you're pushing lower income familes out. Ever thought of that? Next time you call all of us OTPers selfish because we choose to live in Suburbia, just rememer that your choice to move to the city was based on your wants too.
  7. great pics. I was very pleased with the turnout this year and I believe Newnan is very lucky to have such a beautiful, historic, and vibrant town square. I was down there Saturday Night and you wouldn't believe the amount of people walking around and enjoying the town. It made me VERY happy. If we play our cards right, we could be the Next Decatur.
  8. See, in Atlanta if you're in an ethnic neighborhood, you'll know it. If you're in a white neighborhood you'll know it. There's a big difference. If Miami is as integrated as you say then I definitely commend your area. Atlanta has a history of being segregated however this is starting to change inside 285 (Beltway) Many upper class whites are starting to move into traditionally black neighborhoods and in Gwinnett county all different kinds of races and ethnic groups are starting to intertwine together, it's cool. Anyway, Miami and south Florida is a really cool place with a culture all its own but I don't think it should become it's own state; it's not necessary. In the Atlanta forum we had a discussion about whether metro Atlanta should become it's own state because it's different from teh rest of Georgia and it didn't make sense to me at all. Just stick together!
  9. here's a question for those of you who are familiar with the show the Golden girls, where are some good guesses of where they lived in the area. Their area seems to not be very ethnic but still be close to Miami.
  10. I wouldn't want our streets to be that crowded
  11. you might be right. Although i don't know why the AJC would care so much about the HOF. Does it have any connection to it?
  12. Hold on, nobody has determined that Charlotte has the lead. The City has a lot of money to give to teh HOF which is definitely an advantage for you guys, but Atlanta has an emerging tourist district that has the potential to draw in millions of visitors a year. The Georgia aqiaruim alone has generated close to 1 million visitors in the past 4 months it's been open. And actually, many Atlantans want the HOF. Georgia is Nascar country just as much as NC is. You should see all the Nascar fans out in the exurbs. Anyway, it seems like we both have advantages, but we should be finding out what city takes the prize in March. I'll be biting my nails until they announce it!! -Oh, and you're right, the AJC does have a ton of coverage on the HOF. About two or three weeks ago there was a new article about it on the front page about 3 days in a row
  13. exciting, it's time for Midtown to grow west of the perimeter. Sorry, I meant the connector
  14. And the skyline another 40 years from now will probably make the midtown of today look like a cow pasture!
  15. On the Census Bureau's webiste, it says Roswell and Alpharetta are losing population. Would someone care to explain to me why?
  16. True, but that cell phone tower has GOT to go!
  17. Thanks IC, I can't for the life of me figure out how to post the actual picture!
  18. Gosh Atlanta is so beautiful. Especially Atlanta in the Springtime http://www.cc.gatech.edu/ugrads/t/tstearns...kway-tunnel.jpg http://www.rosestudio.com/images/dogwoods.jpg http://z.about.com/d/atlanta/1/0/n/treepark.jpg I can't wait until next month when springtime comes to Atlanta!
  19. Old time Atlantan's don't always respect the new, semi suburban areas above Buckhead. My Grandparents were old line traditional Atlanta people and they never went up to Lenox. In teh Metro area, there does seem to be a lot of tension between old time residents and new transplants.
  20. That's very true. But when the counties start choking on their own growth then they'll start caring about sharing transit with Atlanta. We're already trying to work on those communter train lines. I just hope we can accomplish it, and the beltline.
