    Orlando Transit

Connecting downtown to the airport is #1 on my wish list. Rail to the convention center would be #2.
  2. I walk past this property at least twice a day and I'm very anxious for it to be redeveloped but this looks really bad. It's just a big parking garage with some units on top. The driveway locations look good but the building is terrible. They should at least move the tall part of the building to the west side of the site instead of the east side. The 520 project looks great along Eola Drive. Hopefully, the City has them put units on Eola Drive instead of the parking garage. I wonder if they even met with staff before coming up with this.
  3. They should split the Tampa-Orlando trains and the Orlando-Tampa trains in Auburndale with half of each train going to Miami and the other halves going to Orlando or Tampa. Northbound trains from Miami should also split and Auburndale with half going to Tampa and half going to Orlando. This would almost double service without increasing track usage much at all.
  4. And it's the same team that totally hid the garage on the Lakehouse project. I'm still not really sure where the Lakehouse garage is. This project is awesome but the I-4 side is a real letdown.
  5. Orlando has a huge north-south urban strip to work with. I think it's very comparable to Atlanta on a smaller scale. Also, Atlanta has tons of single family just east of Piedmont.
  6. I totally agree. Also, the Brickell project has mostly underground parking even with a high water table. The water table at the Sentinel site is pretty low and would allow for at least one level of actual below ground parking, I believe.

    Brightline Trains

Is that due to a Beachline agreement issue? I was looking forward to taking it to Cocoa someday.

Beyond the obvious craziness of this, the fact that someone would call the co-chair of the House Blue Dog Coalition a "leftist" is pretty nutty.

This is going to be my favorite post, going forward.
  10. If they can get that sweet road grid added through there and get a ton of units entitled, I'll be happy.
  11. I think this is exactly correct.

Thank you. So, the goofy shuttle service is still an option? If someone lives in downtown Kissimmee and wants to go to downtown Orlando or to the airport, what would those two options look like?

I'm still pretty lost on what's being proposed. What is the current proposal for Sunrail to connect to the airport?
  14. Ah, yes. That's true. I forgot about that. Good catch.
  15. She voted nay. Zero republicans voted for it.
  16. I think this is a great policy. When our downtown population doubles, I'll be happy that we have space set aside for retail/restaurant use on all of these main corridors. Walking past an empty retail space is way better than walking past a block-long parking garage, in the meantime.
  17. Wow, that looks excellent. Thanks for the photo.
  18. That's a 60' r/w that would be signalized, not a small alley. It could eventually poke its way north to connect to the quasi road located behind the 7s project. Having three signals super close together and using some alternate pavement for this stretch would really slow cars down and make it feel like part of downtown.
  19. They should grid it off like this and create an awesome project.

    Brightline Trains

If they want to keep their hourly schedule down south, then that would give them two trains running the same route every hour, with one branching off for Orlando and the other continuing on to Jax. It would be cheaper to have one train from Miami to Cocoa and then passengers would choose between Jax and Orlando. I agree but if the Southeast High Speed Rail efforts continue and it eventually reaches Jax, then the demand would be huge. They're already making good progress from DC to Richmond and some progress from Richmond to Raleigh.
