  1. This is a good time to send letters and comments to the Planning Commission, or better yet show up for the hearing. It would be sad to see another surface lot on that part of Wealthy St.
  2. There is a Public Hearing Notice for September 13th, 2018 at the Planning Commission meeting for the Demolition of the building at 141 Wealthy and 348 La Grave Ave SE (old McGraw Tire) and a Special Land Use request for using the property for a Surface Parking Lot for 55 cars for Mary Free Bed.   4. Hmmm. It was an approximately 1/2 acre undisclosed lot near Wealthy and Division for sale. It was listed with Berkshire Hathaway at over $2 million. The listing stated that the owner didn't want it publicly marketed. Just wondering if anyone had more info. Here is the cached listing.

  8. Nearby DTM and sticking with the BBQ theme, The "Horseshoe Smokehouse" is getting ready for their opening. The new restaurant is located in the old Horseshoe Bar building across from the Grand Rapids Ballet on Grandville. This property is really coming to life after all these years. Kudos to the owner. The restaurant ad for employees states: "From scratch kitchen serving classic and modern BBQ." and "This is a fast casual restaurant with limited table service." Might be a good food alternative for people going to Founders or looking for a lunch option near downtown.
  9. There have been at least a dozen single family homes in Heritage Hill that have sold for over $300K since the beginning of 2013 when its market started to return to normal. One on Morris south of Wealthy St. SE sold for $490,000 this year. Outside of Heritage Hill, there are sales of 1,800-2,200 square foot homes in Grand Rapids that sell for over $300K. Some include: 1600 block of Stillwater Court NE $370,000 at $196 sq ft 100 block of Maryland Avenue NE $335,000 at $157 sq ft 1800 block of Forland Court NE $315,000 at $159 sq ft FYI, 260 Prospect Ave. SE is about 1,800 square feet, plus what appears to be a two story garage.
  10. 629, 635 and 645 S. Division were purchased in the last few years by corporations that share the same address as Van Eerden Foodservice Company. I'd keep an eye on the west side of the 400 block. Change is in the air.

    Look for 42 apartments at this site from an experienced developer soon. It coincides with the annoucement of a cohesive plan for the area.

  15. They are as good as sold despite the fact that water pours inside from the rain. The soon-to-be new owners have a great track record of development in the area. The next surprise on Wealthy St. SE is going to be up the street a bit near Eastern. Ready for even more retail and living space?
