  1. Thanks, everyone. My crazy schedule's been keeping me away from UP lately.
  2. Buncombe Street at night More info on this photo here
  3. I don't think I ever noticed this lone bench under the South Main bridge...
  4. Dr. Charles Tompkins plays the new(ish) Fisk Organ at Daniel Chapel on the Furman Campus. And for shameless self-promotion, the Chamber Ensemble of the Greenville Chorale will be giving a performance in the chapel this afternoon (February 18). The concert begins at 2:00, and will feature works by Schubert, Handel, and Benjamin Britten, as well as some lighter works. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door.
  5. Here's a quick one from today. This series of statues is on the opposite side of the main library from the entrance. They're not really visible from the road because of the old Coca-Cola building.
  6. Nice shots, everyone. Here's a couple from the photowalk...
  7. OK, I think I'm going to be very, very ill. I just read in today's paper that The Map Shop has closed. That was one of my destination shops for downtown, not just to window shop, but to actually buy stuff. I can understand RT's angst at O-Cha now. It's one thing to talk about closings in general, but when a place you really liked closes, it hurts.
  8. It was a good day for shooting. I'm still working on my shots from the photo walk, but I'm hoping I can get some online this evening.
  9. The Food Lion in Lyman is now the closest grocery store to my office in Duncan. Even though it bears the FL name, it still sports a much more upscale interior than the Food Lions with which I'm familiar.
  10. I wasn't too impressed with Thai @ Greenville, either. Their Pad Thai wasn't the best. Has anyone tried the new Aladdin place on Congaree?
  11. You must have hit that very high lottery. I did make it to the autoshow... I was actually a bit disappointed. They had one or two neat things and concept cars, but for the most part, it was just stuff you'd see on a typical day on the Motor Mile. I was hoping to see some more exotics, such as the the one pictured above. They didn't even have any BMW's, which I thought was odd, given that they make them here. Different subject - Sunrise over the Piedmont, as seen from Bald Rock.
  12. I shot this quickly as I was driving down Main, so I don't remember the exact building. I think it's right next to the O-Cha Tea Room, up on a second floor.
  13. An architectural detail on Main Street...
  14. Could be. I always thought they were local.
  15. Prior to its incarnation as a Zaxby's, the house was a really nice restaurant called R. Thomas'. The decor was much more upscale than Zaxby's (which wouldn't have taken much), the food was great, and the prices were reasonable. I hated to see it close.
