    Is the F&C bid final/accepted? When does that happen? Just curious what kind of time frame we are talking once the winning bid is signed, sealed and delivered. Do you think it would take a year for the city to vacate the land? Do they know where they will move the facilities to?

    In terms of infrastructure work, cosmetic work on the actual building, which one do you think needs the most attention, most work? 50 Monroe or the building Atwater Brewery is in? 50 Monroe is certainly an impressive project.

    That is nice...hope they dress up their windows too. Take the awful gates from inside the windows...looks like an inner city liquor store.

    How long has the PO been there? 30-40 years? Seems like from a facility stand point it's aging and they are landlocked. If they wanted/needed to do any major upgrades in the next 10+ years...seems like it would be a major effort in the current location. Not much they can do to the current location, besides there is zero architectural value to it.

    ^^^ very valid points GRDAD. The slight evolution that has happened so far on Michigan St. is more of a lipstick on pig solution. With all of the other trendy areas in the Grand Rapids area, is there enough to sustain this this point in time? It may be baby steps for this may have to wait for the next boom. But that is no excuse for crappy building. What was that one quote I heard somewhere on here..."Building tomorrow's ghetto today"??

    I stopped into Zeytin today. They said they will remain in their current place until next June. She also said they will be in a new on the river...which is supposed to start build in the next few weeks

    What about the longterm durability of wood versus concrete and steel? Seems a primarily wood structure would not last as long as other materials. Oh, that's the USA we tear buildings down after 10-15 years.

    Is it a rebuild to current specs or will they alter the width as was talked about last year? I HATE driving down the hill and having to swerve all over the place just to stay in my own lane.

    Interesting! I hope it's Woodland and Sears. Walking through Sears last week, it seems like a very outdated in many ways. It was dead while other parts of the mall were very busy.
