  1. Wealthy Street Needed Renovations

That is nice...hope they dress up their windows too. Take the awful gates from inside the windows...looks like an inner city liquor store.
  2. A Grand Vision 2.0

How long has the PO been there? 30-40 years? Seems like from a facility stand point it's aging and they are landlocked. If they wanted/needed to do any major upgrades in the next 10+ years...seems like it would be a major effort in the current location. Not much they can do to the current location, besides there is zero architectural value to it.
  3. Diamond Place at the Proos Site

^^^ very valid points GRDAD. The slight evolution that has happened so far on Michigan St. is more of a lipstick on pig solution. With all of the other trendy areas in the Grand Rapids area, is there enough to sustain this area...at this point in time? It may be baby steps for this area...it may have to wait for the next boom. But that is no excuse for crappy building. What was that one quote I heard somewhere on here..."Building tomorrow's ghetto today"??
  4. Village of Ada - Complete Makeover

I stopped into Zeytin today. They said they will remain in their current place until next June. She also said they will be in a new on the river...which is supposed to start build in the next few weeks
  5. Because if those walls were patient, the project would be complete.
  6. 234 Market, former Lady Godiva's

Any mention of what the little triangle will be? The one that have the contract trailers on it now?
  7. 234 Market, former Lady Godiva's

What about the longterm durability of wood versus concrete and steel? Seems a primarily wood structure would not last as long as other materials. Oh, that's right...in the USA we tear buildings down after 10-15 years.
  8. Health Hill/Medical Mile Developments

Is it a rebuild to current specs or will they alter the width as was talked about last year? I HATE driving down the hill and having to swerve all over the place just to stay in my own lane.
  9. Woodland Mall to get $100 Million makeover

Grand Rapids needs a Wahlburgers restaurant too...
  10. Wealthy Street Needed Renovations

Do you think any part of that building in salvageable, or would the whole thing need to be knocked down if it was ever sold? Do you think any part of that building in salvageable, to would the whole thing need to be knocked down if it was ever sold?
  11. Woodland Mall to get $100 Million makeover

Interesting! I hope it's Woodland and Sears. Walking through Sears last week, it seems like a very outdated in many ways. It was dead while other parts of the mall were very busy.
  12. Klingman's Warehouse

I heard there is a 2-3 year waiting list for a 2 bedroom apartment.
  13. I've been curious to ask what drives the local and recent architecture, especially the cheaper looking ones identified in other threads? Is it lack of imagination? Are they trying to go cheap and make a huge profit? Are many of the local architects related and get together at family reunions to design all these buildings we see pop up? Who really stands out?
  14. Grand Rapids Then and Now

Does anyone have pictures of the old Hong Kong Inn...where the Art Museum is now.
  15. 50 Monroe to get de-skinned?

I assume they won't have a cost for the whole project until they see what is underneath?
