Well the idiots of Traverse City have spoken. I hope now that it doesn't go forward and that the [email protected]^#ing morons get to look at the grass peeking through the cracks of an abandoned car dealership for the next 50 years. Federated Properties bought the site (2 ajoining sites) for $2.9 million. So I don't know what they might do.

Minutes from a Traverse City city commision meeting dated Feb. 21, 2006 listing the following three parties as related to the West Front St. redevelopment project. Mike Uzelac, Federated Properties, LLC; Bob Holdeman, AAI Architects and Mark Humitz. AAI Architects. The AAI Architects were just listed and I have no idea if they are the architects for the project, but it seems resonable seeing as how they were there with the developer. From what I can find on them, they are a local (Traverse City) architect firm.

Yeah, it would be really nice. I hope that it get's done, even if it does take 15 years.

pretty sure. I don't think that that is Pine St. though. But maybe it is, I always just thought that it was the begining to State St. where Front St becomes a one way. Edit: Here are some more plans. This is the property right now.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, here are some shots I found from the open space. Looking towards the west at the crowd with the projector inside the truck. Setting up. Obviousley not quite time for the movie to start. If anyone is familiar with the open space, it fills up back to the flower garden, and then people start sitting in the area behind the garden about half way to the Parkway. There were also a few, about two dozen or so, sitting in the area where the power plant used to be.

Very cool, had not seen that. I think I like the building better heading east from west.

Well so far no shots from the film fest. I forgot my camera, maybe I'll be able to find some somewhere else. I did finally find a artist rendering of what the W. Front St. project should look like. Take a look.

Someone was selling the Vote for Pedro shirts last night. I didn't bring enough loot with me though for one. Edit: BTW, I will be downtown again tonight working the open space for the film fest. I will try to remember my camera and take some shots of the screen and the tons of people.

Yeah, that building sits at Cass and Front. It has the Espresso Bay coffee shop on the ground floor corner w/Cass and Front. It was actually remodeled a few years back. They changed the brick and added quite a few more windows. This is a shot of it looking west down Front St. On another note, I just got home from the free movie at the open space park for the TC Film Festival. Tonights show was "Napolean Dynamite". It was pretty damn cool, even though I have seen the movie about a dozen times. Quite a large turnout. I would put it at around 1000 to 1500 people. Just a rough estimate based on the size of the park and how full it was. Pretty cool stuff.
  10. My Grandma still lives in Beecher, she refuses to sell the house. The last time I was there (May 18th) it was looking just as bad as ever.
  11. Hey, that's where I lived until I was 14. Oh yeah, I got a speeding ticket there once also. Never mind, I hate Mt. Morris too. At least the po-lease.

I wish they would just build the damn thing. During the cherry festival, on a Thursday, I could not find a parking spot anywhere downtown at 8:30 at night. Except for the current parking deck, which is 5 blocks away (not that it is far). As for the rest of the development, I hope it gets done and I hope that it makes other developers want to build taller.

I don't think that the development itself is in trouble of not being built, just the parking deck from what I understand. I am pretty sure that its just the 16 million in public funding, which will all go to the deck, that is being voted against.

It will still be a miracle if they build it.

It did until this past spring, they moved to a new and bigger location.

Right now it's a tire dealership, Kinney's Tire and Service, right on that corner.
  17. That's just friggen gorgeous. Unfortunatly, I don't know the backstory on why it is not occupied. Any chance somebody could give me a real quick lesson.

No, it's on the west side of downtown. Only about 3 blocks from the parkplace. If you know where the main post office is DT, it's immeditly south of it on the other side of State St.

Sure, theres been nothing in the stupid paper about any kind of development for a month and the one day I don't go get the paper, there is. That will be across the street from my favorite little watering hole, Dillingers. Hopefully it will add a little more parking for the evenings.

I am thinking of finally going to the "open space" tonight. I will as well try to remember my camera and post some shots, as I have not done so in quite awhile.

No, every time I have to go downtown, I forget my camera. I say "have to" because I had to work downtown saturday, sunday and tuesday. But basically it takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to go about 3 miles.

So, to any of you that are here in town for the cherry festival, how ya lovin' it. It took me 45 minutes to go 3 miles today. Oh, I just love the cherry festival. Don't get me wrong, I guess it's good for a few people around town, but not for even a quarter I'm guessing.

Yeah, I'm pretty suprised about that. They jacked it up Thursday and it started droping by Friday. Still 3.09 at some places.
