Grand Rapids Airport (GRR) News and Developments

That's a bummer for sure. I've flown with them at least 5 times now, never a problem. -

I've had no issues w/ Allegiant. You can 'uncheck' the extra fee checkbox for a seat assignment in their online booking. Plus they're now flying to SW Florida. Another route that I'll use. Anytime I can get a non stop out of GRR it's a win in my opinion. -
Went DT specifically to goto Georgio's w/ my sister (MSU alum) and her BF. She's been out of the country for a bit and wanted to get a slice or 2 w/o trekking an hour to E.L. before leaving the country again. Lo and behold, we get there and the place is closed. I saw hours on google being 11am-10pm. Same hours were posted on the door, too. Quite a disappointment. We then (naively) walked up to One Trick Pony / The Cottage Bar. Oops! Closed, too. At least their doors said they were closed on Sunday's. We proceeded to walk over to Republic and had a nice dinner. I guess the moral of the story is 'call ahead'. EDIT: While waiting for sister & her bf to show up, I called Georgio's number and an auto-attendant answered. "Press 12 to place an order". haha -- it just rang and rang.

I had the Vietnamese Pho yesterday. Quite good. Although eating out of the 32oz container w/ chopsticks was tricky. Some sort of bowl would've been easier to maneuver the chopsticks into. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

From GRNow.com's Facebook page: "River City Slims is reopening this Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. with a limited menu"
-
I miss the old GRPM. The new museum isn't quite the same.

Never knew it was an Atlantic Mills - learn something new everyday on this board. I agree that Stadium Arena is redundant. How about Park Field for the new baseball field downtown?
-
That is correct. Stadium Arena in those old pictures is the arc-shaped building with the silver trussing on the top of the building.

Does anyone have any new gems they've stumbled across?

I drive past the Chipotle every day. Aside from removing the port-a-potty from the front sidewalk - it appears that the inside is about ready to go. This is of course, from an untrained eye. It could just as easily be a month out.
-
Cheers to those who arranged this partnership. I can only see good things coming from this.

The more sushi places in town the better! (man I'm fiending for a nice tuna sashimi).

Didn't Finley's used to be "Schelde's" and before that "Mr. Steak"? Another nice stroll down memory lane...

I vaguely remember Farrel's - I was quite young when it was around. Quick google search: http://www.happyitis.biz/ http://www.farrellsusa.com/ I think I always got a root-beer float when we went, so I could take the little plastic mugs home.

I saw a 'pavement eater' in my rear view mirror working on Burlingame as I headed to work this morning. It looked like it was working on the northbound lanes at present. Crews have been replacing curbs to the new all-accessible style w/ traction grips the past few days.
