Twin 25 story towers (both actually 20 stories on top of a 5 story pedestal) that would feature a 200 room hotel, residential housing, retail, and a large garage are envisioned by Ardavan Afrakhteh. He bought the former bank building property encompassing .52 acre at 1715 West End Ave. (just east of Hotel Indigo) for $5 million in January. Afrakhteh is often known as more of a land banker, so we are not sure how serious this concept is, or it it is just a show piece to get other developers interested in buying or partnering with him. In the renderings, it appears that one of the towers would face West End, and the other face Broadway. The area is zoned for 16 stories, but there may be allowances for more height based on parking, LEED certifications, etc. This development would be less than a block to the SE from the massive Broadwest complex, already underway.
