  1. 275 new jobs at Apex Robotics firm http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2017/04/13/apex-robotics-firm-plans-hiring-binge-in-upcoming.html?ana=e_ae_set1&s=article_du&ed=2017-04-13&u=oAaDx%2B74FoP4qOJ%2By4AU6dhJPpc&t=1492114409&j=77935151 Why I chose to move my start up tech company to the Triangle? 2. This project is looking more and more likely, with approved zoning and preliminary plans announced. The original part of the Creamery building as well as the 1940ish expansion will remain.
  3. The western area of Raleigh along Blue Ridge Rd, Edwards Mill Rd, and around the PNC Arena is booming with office and residential density. Many office buildings are 4 stories in this area, with some, such as this new one, are hitting 6 stories. This one is being built in the construction area in the above shot. Ground level retail is also becoming more common. This part of Raleigh is a bit isolated but is picking up critical mass to support it's own eco-system of employment, shopping and residential.
  4. I think this needs its own thread (it's 435 feet tall!). Plus it's getting a little tedious jumping back and forth between the Raleigh Union Station thread, Warehouse District thread, and Downtown Raleigh's Future thread because random pics and info get distributed between all of those. Pics from today...
  5. There have been several recent residential developments along New Bern/Edenton, and with the coming BRT line, redevelopment will likely accelerate in this part of Raleigh. Here are some new townhomes nearing completing at I believe Seawell Ave.
  6. Appears that this project is finally underway, and I think is big enough for its own thread. Dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites at the corner of McDowell and Davie St. I believe this is the current rendering, good to finally see another hotel in downtown Raleigh. Drive by from yesterday (sorry for all the glare):
  7. 5 Story Apartment Complex Plans have been submitted for a 350,000-square-foot apartment project near the Crabtree Valley Mall. 5-story, 230-unit apartment complex featuring 356,822 square feet 4-story parking deck. a future phase with 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
  8. I am trying to find a place in Raleigh that would have existed as recently as 2004, maybe sooner. But I cannot find anymore. It seems like it was on Glenwood Avenue heading North, past Crabtree, on the right. There was a pond near the road and an office complex behind it. One story office buildings. You could travel a path to the right of the pond to get to the office buildings. It always looked so quaint. Does anyone remember this?
  9. Recently @Jones_ posted in the Triangle Economic News thread about Kane's desire for better transit at North Hills and how it would be amusing if he ended up being what could light a fire to cause light rail to actually become a thing around here. This could be a fun exercise in the creativity of people on here. If you had to figure out how to run a light rail line between downtown (let's say the new Union Station) to North Hills, how would you route it? Would you go straight up Capital and over? Would you add a jog over to Five Points? Where would you have stops (if any)? Are the kind of developer that would be frugal/conservative to the community, would you bulldoze a daycare while laughing from your corner office, would you find a balance somewhere in between? Go go go! I encourage use of Google's MyMaps to facilitiate and share ideas: https://www.google.com/mymaps/
  10. Didn't see another thread for the Boylan Heights neighborhood (bounded by Western Blvd, the prison, the railroad tracks, and briefly Dawson/McDowell St). Not sure what the status on The Lynde is, but fencing is up with marketing graphics. Also a pic of some townhomes around the corner.
  11. Revisn Hotel Brier Creek, 4 stories 100 fully-furnished units 8,000 square feet of event and co-working space
