Yep. Owner of soul is expanding into those spaces. No sure if it is going to be part of soul or a separate bar/tapas place.

The loss of these structures does not bother me too much, but it is rather disorienting when almost an entire block is leveled all at once.

In other news, Tim Smyre,  the owner of 1510 passed away in January. He was a very funny guy and I’ve gotten some awesome deals over the years. That space and Century were once joined.  We shall see what happens there.

Yeeesh that is a bit worrisome. Think DQ, the shopping center behind it are more than likely gone. 

 

On the 1419 Central property, the seems relatively new so I assume it will stay for now. For visual reference, below is what they purchased:

1401 Central appears to be the building that houses Midwood Smokehouse, which is further west than what you circled

You are correct. Not sure why I thought it was the Allegiance building. 

 

Edit: Many I really screwed up the visual not sure why google maps thought it included DQ.

"The VanLandingham Estate, at 2010 The Plaza, has been acquired by a joint venture that includes Charlotte real estate investment firms Stono River Partners and Ascent Real Estate Capital,  which purchased about 2.8 acres of the full 5-acre site for about $1.5 million, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records. The 7,088-square-foot home, built in 1913, is included in the transaction. "  "It's not certain what will become of the estate under the new ownership, but Stono River and Ascent have hired Cluck Design to consult on architecture and design as well as engineer ColeJenest & Stone. Jon Dixon, managing principal at Ascent, declined to discuss any specifics when reached this week, including whether the house would be preserved."  "Our company is excited to take ownership of the VanLandingham Estate, an important asset for both the neighborhood and the entire Charlotte region," Jon Dixon said in a statement. Anyone know what is going in behind common market across from NC Red?

I asked a construction worker as I was walking by and he said half the space is going to be Korean or Thai and the other is going to be an ice cream shop. I thought I read earlier it was going to be a Mexican restaurant. Anyone know the scoop?

NC Red signage is up (well it went up last week). This replaces the green “grass” wall from the brief Comida days.

Drove by today and the signage says Cilantro Noodle and Ocho Lime are now hiring. I tried a quick google search of both and came up empty. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

I don't know if we've seen these but here are the updated exterior renderings of this redo.  All of these spaces are still listed as available online. Asking rent is 30-36/sf NNN. 

Also interesting, this company has the 9,500 s.f. grocery space  in the shopping center behind it listed as available which I don't think is a mistake.  If you remember correctly, OH Community Grocery & Cafe took over this space from  Healthy Home Market.  Which it's too bad it's not contiguous with the gawdawful medical care place on the other side of ABC. It's well short of what a Fresh Market, TJs would ever look at.  What would yall do with that back strip?
