Owenorange 195 Report post Posted December 13, 2020 What is the plan for post office facade of steel beams are on the outside? Seems like the new PM restaurant from the Haberdish folks is getting close. At least they have landscaping on site so seems like it is. I am excited about this one
Nathan2 213 Report post Posted December 22, 2020 The old buildings at the back of Central Square will be saved now that the rezoning for the site has been approved. 10
Nathan2 213 Report post Posted December 28, 2020 Everyone always talks about Daniel Levine and how he is holding so much land hostage in the North Tryon area, but he also is doing the same here in Plaza. Its a shame that he is letting so many lots and buildings just sit empty or underused off of Commonwealth and the Plaza. These lots if developed the right way could really give plaza the more urban feel. Anyone have any idea what he is waiting on?

dencity 35 Report post Posted December 31, 2020 Levine's land in PM is highlighted in yellow, altogether equalling over 5.4 acres. Most of this land is relatively underdeveloped. I believe that the lot at the southern corner of The Plaza and Commonwealth Ave, which is nearly a full acre, currently sits empty. 4
wadesboro2 90 Report post Posted January 16 Does anyone know what they are doing in the median at the Plaza/Parkwood intersection? I am disappointed they tore down the historic plaza midwood sign. swh1972 193 Report post Posted January 16 It is part of the overall street and pedestrian improvements. I don't have specifics, but like the rest of the project on The Plaza, I'll defer any judgement until it is completed. That intersection specifically is really bad for cars and people.Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

I can't tell from your picture, but did they demolish it, or perhaps just disassemble it so that it can be put back together elsewhere? wadesboro2 90 Report post Posted January 18 Saved on Google Maps, for now. I can't tell from your picture, but did they demolish it, or perhaps just disassemble it so that it can be put back together elsewhere? It looks like the rubble is just cinder block. I hope you are right and they plan to reassemble it. It makes for a nice entrance to the neighborhood Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hokiehigh 60 Report post Posted January 18 As for the sign, the neighborhood association sent out a poll a few months ago to vote for the new sign. I remember wondering why they wouldn't just reassemble the old one so that the two signs matched. I haven't seen the poll results but I think it will be something different. Nathan2 213 Report post Posted January 20 Looks like marble slab creamery is taking over Nova's bakery. Slightly disappointed as its a major chain, would have been nice to have something local.

I really want to support our local ice cream stores (and black owned) but unfortunately none of them have good ice cream! I miss Va Da Vie. Far better than the over-priced over-hyped Jeni's.
