I just walked by the old No Grease Salon, and all of the windows are covered in brown paper so it looks like Workmen's Friend might actually be happening.

Paper went up in the window of the old No Grease Barber shop space on Central that will be Three Publicans / Workman's Friend.

 

I hope that means they're about to get moving on the renovation work.

Also, the old J&J Beauty Supplies between the new Healthy Home Market and Yama Izakaya now has their windows covered with brown paper. Does anyone know what is going in there and if there is any news on putting a patio in front of Yama and Bistro La Bon?

There will be a patio in front of Healthy Home Market too, according to Polaris.

Saw a rumor on facebook that Tyber Creek is opening a second location where No Grease was. Kind of meh about that, was hoping for a retail store, not another bar.

Spaces on Central go for $4000 to $8000 a month. Hence, there will be more restaurants and bars, not retail.

facebook has been abuzz the last few days about apartment/condo development in PM.   Among those posts has been the rumor that Van Landingham will be developing portions of their property into condos...  It thought that was interesting.  I'd like to think that most any infill can be good if designed appropriately.  I am reaching deep to envision this one.

It looks like the long ago announced Faison apartment deal is back. They had optioned the land and had until December of this year to exercise that option and it looks like they're going to move forward. Presubmittal meeting was scheduled for the deal and the description is as follows: Detailed Scope of Work: Muti Family Development within the PED overlay district, with portions of existing retail to remain.

This is the site on the north side of Central between Clement and the tracks. Looks like they're going to keep the retail building or portion of where Fern is and build apartments around.

Plaza 25. This is on Clement behind Midwood BBQ. Turned out to be a nice filler project.

 

Morningside...not much to see yet just dirt and some utilites at this point

The latest Clement proposal, plus the one wrapping Thirsty Beaver, should really help the railroad disappear, not to mention making the largest pawn shop literally disappear. Hipster Ghetto will have completed the Yuppie Wood transformation.

Nope, still have a Family Dollar.

Family Dollar started on Central Avenue. The first location was where Nova's Bakery is now. Granted, if Midwood wiped out this bit of their history, then it truly would be Charlottean.
