I have always enjoyed urban photos that juxtapose shabby and run down looking foregrounds against gleaming, high rises in the background.

always like to visit downtown here are just a few photos and will post more later tonight I have plenty to post.  this morning Lake Eola Park and from the newly improved I-4.  Balmy 55 degrees but at least sunny.  I walked all over downtown to stay warm.

More photos from downtown today.  Really like how there are many smaller more historical buildings reused downtown mixed with newer highrises..  I like the old Kress building which looks like office space and the old bank building now a Walgreens.  Plus have a lake downtown helps with the open space.  Overall I really like your downtown more vibrant than downtown JAX even though they have taller buildings.  Plus you seem to have a good many apartment and condo towers too which is good.  What is up with that large restaurant building next to the new Church St tower?  

Hey I told you I took a lot of photos. 

Your downtown Library looks like it was built to be a Hurricane Cat 5 bunker but I see it was voted one of the best in the country.  That round building that was torn down and a piece of it still stands would have been a good save.  Your Taco Bell Cantina should be a good addition downtown. Wish uptown Charlotte had one and saw your DGX the urban format Dollar General.

even more photos from downtown today.  Love your downtown Publix we are finding getting one in uptown Charlotte and yes I remember Iveys a great department store.   what is that large house used for at Lake Eola park?  is it a restaurant?

Eola House, which at one point was the Mexican consulate, is now the headquarters for the park. It’s also used for special events like hosting pics with Santa at Christmas.

I did not see a Windermere thread so I will include this in the Orlando Metro Photo thread.  I see you hide the nice suburbs from tourists like me but I found it anyway.  Very nice area.  Beautiful homes along the lakes there.  Very nice downtown area.  Nice gated communities next time some of you UPers need to get me a pass into  them LOL.

Great photo of the Mormon temple in the distance atop one of the highest spots in Orange County. I’m not sure why but as photogenic as it is, remarkably few pictures seem to be taken of it in shots of the area.

Windermere’s a beautiful area. They are a bit odd out there, though. I was once given a speeding ticket there on my way to work at the Magic Kingdom on my bike. I went to court and the judge dismissed it, chuckling the whole time and suggesting to the cop he may have been just a tad overzealous.

I will call this the Highlight reel from my 48 hours in  the City Beautiful. 

Don't worry I will be back next year too maybe I will go to one of your theme parks LOL.  Whether I head to the Gulf side of FL or south Florida I will stay a night or two in Orlando.   Come up to Charlotte and I will spin you around and believe me you will see more in a KJ tour than any paid tour in town.

Interesting.  Apparently there is a webcam directly above where I was standing although the webcam doesn’t really show the construction.

I prob don't want to think about exactly *how long ago* it really is at this point but before whatever remodel this is, I remember the creepy Mac Tonight animatronic they had upstairs would come to life and play piano.
