I like it as well, and I like the 3-color execution. 

The only odd thing to me is that it is on the south side of the building, backward from traffic on Orange Ave, which also flows south. 

 

But maybe that is a signal also to be more "pedestrian-centric" DT, rather than car-centric. (Probably reading too much into it, but worth pointing out)

Somebody needs to pull up the weeds that are growing around the base of it.

Kinda spoils the whole effect.

they were setting up a stage next to it, and I saw it, and was like, oh, nice prop for the event they are preparing for...then I looked at it again...jaw dropped...

that kind of stuff...if they did more of it in DTO...could really leave an impression on visitors (and residents/locals).

I thought that most if not all of those power boxes or whatever they are, were painted with various kinds of artwork. 

I thought they'd been doing that for years.

there is one on Livingston as you head downtown from Bumby...maybe the next light in, on the NW corner that has a classical painting mural on it...been like that for years.  But aside from that one (which I see often) I don't remember where the other ones are.  I do remember something recently, maybe star wars themed...but this one actually has things attached to it which is very cool...

I thought I remembered some kind of city sponsored program in which they enlisted local artists to paint artwork on them.

Each artist was assigned one box.

These are all around the city, but JFW is right, I've never seen it in downtown until now. I love it. Hope they continue doing this.

There's a few in Mills50 and the Milk District.  Looks like the avoided painting the ones on FDOT roads.

My personal favorite.  Mostly because its so weird.

The Milk District has some on FDOT roads now.   Fun fact, we had to register as a "Local Place Name" with FDOT through County proclamation - much like an unincorporated community - to be able to include our logo/name on them.  They're officially Customized Place Name Signs / Local ID Markers.

Odd for a downtown mural. 
There are Orlando commercials here in DC with the “unbelievably real” marketing slogan. I’m not sure that really works in downtown Orlando.
