I saw this photo in your friend's signature on CFBMW.org and wanted to post it on here but was suspended before I could (from June 1-7). It's an incredible shot!

Great shot! ....from my favorite view of "driving through Orlando." I would like to make a video clip sometime of driving the 408 starting around Semoran, getting off the I-4 exit heading east and entering downtown at the Anderson St. merge. Actually it would be pretty cool to make videos coming from each direction, I-4 from Daytona, from Tampa and the Conroy Rd. "Orlando" sign, and 408 each direction.

Is that a UFO in the upper left of the picture? A rather large looking star

The rentention pond can be made into a nice small park. It looks like this new ramp is cut into the land of 1000 North Orange or the Flatiron proposal.

And can they not just drain the stormwater into lake ivanhoe?

No, per state law they can't. People fish and swim in Lake Ivanhoe!

(not that I would-it is bad now, they just can't make it any worse)

A small park is a good idea if DOT would do it, they don't make amenities out of ponds very often. Liability issues I guess.

That also demonstrates how expensive it is to expand a road like I-4. They bought commercial property with existing businesses on it just to tear them down.

The PA says just the Ford & Harrison property was worth $1,318,619, which DOT should have had to pay (it's shown as $0 but that isn't right), which also costs the City $27,000 in tax revenue per year (since DOT doesn't pay property tax).

Don't let Hisma hear you talking like that! He's already addicted to this site because of the hardcore architechtural porn...he doesn't need enticing descriptions on top of that, so to speak.

All in good fun, Hisma!

For some reason, I've never noticed that the view of the skyline was so good from Fashion Square Mall. If anyone's got a super-duper-mondo telephoto lens, the terminal top parking at MCO used to provide very good vantage points. I doubt you'd be able to get up there with a camera these days without security chasing you off though.

I've taken pics from the Fashion Square garage before, but I don't have a telephoto, so they weren't good enough to post here.

But the view is great from there!!!

now I feel like a complete A-hole for posting substandard photos.... :)

my philosophy is do what you can with what you got (within reason of course).

The view *is* great up there, especially on a clear day. You can see the downtown skyline all the way through the J.W. Marriott in Hunter's Creek. You are right though, one would need a tremendous telephoto lens to get clear shots.

What was so "substandard" about your photos?

I thought they looked just fine.

The ones I took with my camera, the buildings looked so far away you could barely see them.
