THE Orlando Photo Thread

It looks to me like the most obvious difference between the two photos is the lighting conditions.

The angle and quality of the sunlight is much better in the iphone photo giving it an unfair advantage over the other one.

Another difference is that the iphone photo has better composition. The first one has a funny angle to it, and part of the Solaire is cut off, while the iphone picture is squared up better with the entire Solaire showing.

Take a picture with each one at the same time and with the same framing, then you can make an accurate comparison.

BTW... with tomorrow being the 4th of July I think it's only reasonable to expect some of you downtown residents with digital cameras to provide us with some nice shots of our skyline with the fireworks going off overhead.

Wink wink.

If it stops raining I'm riding my bike down there!

Edit: It did indeed stop raining but not until we got downtown @ 8. However the fireworks were great.

Thanks! I went down there to get a shot of the lights you had captured, but they don't seem to have made it on last night.

If you really want to get a shot of the lights on top of Vue, you can check the Dynetech construction cam to make sure they're on before heading outside. You don't get the clearest view of them but you can make out if they're on or not. I've noticed the lights on a few nights around 1am but not much later than that.

^^

Here's some shots from Friday night that for some reason didn't finish uploading to photobucket, so I had to go back to the office to redo it. A night at the Plaza (think of Will Ferrell.... 'what is love...')

Amazing what a little colored glass can do for a project, maybe they'll get inspired and cover the whole east elevation in glass.

Would have been a great project had they re-oriented the building 90 degrees counter clockwise.

Excluding the glass this building looks like a prison....Worst looking building in downtown...

The AT&T building next to Dynetech is up there on the ugly list too.

There's not a whole lot that can be done with it, though.

Yeah, I suppose implying this building could be "great" with a slight re-orientation might have been a bit overstated

I will admit the re-orientation would help a lot. However, it's a chain link fence away from belonging on 33rd st...When this structure was designed (2001) security was the only thing in mind.

This wasn't even the original design.

The previous design was somewhat better looking, but a bunch of judges who work in the building pissed and moaned about it not being secure enough, so they redesigned it and that Chernobyl looking thing is what we wound up with.
