THE Orlando Photo Thread

It's a bit disappointing -- the rendering with the city logo on the garage was quite nice. I wonder what happened..

I would guess that they got the cheesy idea from the Eiffel Tower. There are mannequins or some kind of full size dolls posing as construction workers with safety nets and other things of that nature up on the Eiffel Tower. I thought it was under construction until I got up to the first level and then you notice that none of it is real. Then you wonder why they wouldn't just get rid of that stuff and build a working elevator on that portion of the tower.

Just a small notice ... I will not be posting updates this weekend, as I will be out of state.

Next update will be September 8th, or September 11th, depending on my schedule.

On my way to work this morning it looked like they've started cutting away the I-4 embankment, at least on the Hughey side. This is going to be awesome!

Cutting away the I-4 embankment for what again?

Cutting away the I-4 embankment for what again?

To increase the walkable area beneath the I-4 underpass on the south side of Church Street.

There's a large sloping embankment that they want to make a flat wall that's further from the street-side, where they'll have better lingering space. This will also make all of the ground level stuff for Amway Center visible down Church St, while right now it's largely obstructed.

Here's the plan:

Well that was weird. Apparently there's an image count limit on a post. :)

I don't know what those rings are. I took a picture hoping someone could figure it out. Best guess is bike rack, but that seems like a very weird bike rack.

And yeah ... those are some nice little water features. There are a few of them over on the northwest corner of the center, near the practice court.

I guess I know I'm a real estate geek when I lust for that Palm Beach Land Trust Lot. Oh the things I could do with you!!!

I would also love to own that piece of property and that triangular lot across the street as well. The possibilities for those lots are endless. Hopefully the Rida Development Group turns it into an iconic beauty.

Weekly Photo Update: http://downtown-otown.com/2010/09/18/weekly-photo-update-gai-amway-center-fumco/

Yay for not making this page 10 billion pixels tall. I posted about 90 photos today, including:

  • Seven Eleven
  • Amway Center (awesome south-side shots I've never gotten before ... shot from the Anderson bridge)
  • GAI
  • FUMCO

Enjoy!
