My point was addressing the deferred maitenance on such a nice building.  Maybe I spent too much time in Greece, but pure white with the appropriate accents can be stunning (just stay away from cobalt blue domes otherwise it will look like an Orthadox Church).

I think large Mission style buildings like this one look better in white or a slightly tinted paint color, but use bold colors on the inside. And while they're painting it, they should update the clay roof tiles, litter the grounds with bougainvillea and lay down some decorative pavers.

Whitewash is the traditional color for this style, and FLheat is totally right in the maintenance, or lack thereof, is embarrassing for a landmark of the City Beautiful. But after the whitewash goes on, the style allows for a darker band at the bottom for 2 or 3 feet. And colors used to pick out accents and trim which could really make this a standout. Something needs to be done along the long and ugly industrial part of the building fronting Sligh.

Say what you will about these projects, this stretch of Orange Avenue is filling in nicely. In the following picture you can see:

  1. NORA
  2. Crescent Central Station (Is it still called that?)
  3. SteelHouse
  4. Residence Inn -- rising above Camden nicely
  5. 800 N Orange (thanks gibby)
