best place to buy investment prop in St. Pete?

Hi,

I'm thinking of leaving Broward County and moving on north--but want to live somewhere where I can buy some investment property that is not too expensive. Looking for older homes/condos/multifamily that might have some interesting historical details, but in an area which will appreciate. I haven't spent much time in the Tampa area, but am interested in leaving Broward which has become one giant city without city benefits and is not affordable (at least to me--a 2/1 house not on the water, 900 sq. feet, although renovated--for 374 k!). I'm also open to Tampa proper. Any information. thoughts, etc. is appreciated.

thanks in advance,

mackie
