Looks like redevelopment at south park mall in colonial heights is starting with this apartment project. Very glad to see investment in this area of the region, it has great bones, just needs some investment and I think it could take off, especially as the areas closer to downtown Richmond become more expensive.

Good to see this happen.  The area was in great need of re-working and hopefully this development will help trend that area in a positive direction to save the South Park Mall area as a bustling, mixed-use part of town.

This is an exciting development for Petersburg. Neat tidbits, too, about what the developer - David McCormack -- is doing in Richmond. I get the impression from the article he is becoming a recognized player in the metro-RVA development market. Super exciting all the way around.

Petersburg has been laying fallow for far too long. I'm thrilled to see things maybe beginning to stir there, finally. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly 30 years since tornadoes went through the Tri- Cities area (in August, unironically) - and it seems like Petersburg just sort of "stopped" from that point forward. I'm very hopeful things are finally turning around there and we'll see development and growth really start to pick up there in the coming years.

More on the Ramada demolition in Petersburg. RBS covered the check-presentation ceremony yesterday and is reporting that demolition has already started with crews getting under way immediately following the close of yesterday's ceremony.

"DroneUp LLC, a provider of drone flight services and technology, plans to invest $20.2 million to create the training, testing and research and development center for drone operators at Richard Bland College and $7 million to expand its Virginia Beach headquarters."

Excellent news!! Wow - we have to stay pedal-to-the-metal in grabbing new businesses and getting them to plant roots throughout the metro like this.

The old eyesore, Ramada Inn is coming down in Petersburg!  Hopefully, it is replaced with a modern tower at least as tall as the one coming down.  Petersburg needs to display that it is on the rise!
