In the backwoods of Kentucky and in Western NC, yes. Probably a few other places, but I have had it there. Cherokee (the town), NC had a nice little sandwich shop (with a killer BBQ Sandwich, mind you) that served RC products.

It has a small but dedicated fanbase. (mainly rednecks)

Umm.... not exactly. You can find it in almost every grocery store and convenience store (at least that I have been to)

RC Cola and a Moonpie is the classic Southern treat.

...sorry for the bad play on NIMBY.

According to the AJC article, the classic pairing of Moonpies and RC Cola was because they were both two cheap treats during the Great Depression.
