Hey, do you know any good layman's books on deep-sea oceanography? I read William J. Broad's The Universe Below a few years ago, hoping for lots of info about tube worms, bio-luminescent funny-little-things, black smokers, and so on -- but it turned out that the book had a lot more about exploratory mini-subs and the people who operate them, than about the deep sea itself; phooey.

i love how grow smart weighs in on stuff like this but has no problem NOT weighing in on single story strip mall development in the urban areas. WTF is that about?

I see both sides. The EDC's job is to bring investment, development, and jobs to the State - this $120M project fits that bill perfectly. QDC is focused on the development of the park and has voiced thier concerns with the project. James Sheehan (champion of NK NIMBYism IMO) is looking out for the area residents.

Once again, why the heck can't these people sit down and find the middle ground. Lets not send the wrong message about investing in RI, but lets work together in a positive manner to shape the development to suit what is best for the area...

The way they describe it, it's a huge improvement over the bland strip mall originally proposed. The key thing I took out of the article was "parking would be behind buildings."
