Austin looks beautiful!

Those pics are from WITHIN Austin's limits? They're definitely beautiful. I would've thought they were miles away from any civilization.

The elevation in Austin rises by about 700-800 feet from the east side of the city to the west side of the city. Its on the Balcones Escarpment meaning the east side of downtown is generally flat prairie and the west side is very rugged and rocky. For example, Town Lake in downtown Austin is about 430ft. Then 3 miles west is Lake Austin which is 482 feet. Then further upstream, about 6-10 miles is Lake Travis which is 682 feet.

The pictures look a bit rural because much of the hill country west of Austin is protected by some hardcore environmentalists. This means much of the dense development in Austin goes north and south along I-35.

I voted for Raleigh because I loved what they are doing with the city and the whole area. I have never been to Austin, but it looks GREAT!
