Hopefully we start seeing more and more shopping centers in the Richmond area that are underutilized be redeveloped into dense, mixed use centers.

So much of West Broad could be redeveloped like this.  Peachtree Road RVA!

It’s started to a small degree. There’s that townhome project on the south side of Broad west of Glenside. But yeah. I don’t know how many school zoning impacts this. Godwin, Deep Run, Glen Allen ... those are the preferred HS and wouldn’t be really impacted by infill projects on a big stretch of West Broad. That’s unlike Westchester Commons which is probably zoned for Midlothian (which is analogous to Godwin).  I’m not sure how many of these home buyers are looking at schools, but the general principle is schools schools schools.

I still hope it’s a movement that catches on.  There has been a lot of radical changes in Virginia in the past couple years...this is a rule I’d like to see gone too.

Pretty on par with what I always imagined would go in this intersection.   A NY Developer is proposing a 350-unit mixed use redevelopment of the Laurel Park Shopping Center (corner of Hungary and Woodman).

Fencing is being installed.  Demo should be soon.

chesterfield planning a dense mixed use development for the shopping center across midlothian turnpike from the old clover leaf mall

Cloverleaf Mall, wow, this is sure bringing back some memories.  I lived in Brandermill, way back when, and would go to Cloverleaf Mall to walk around with friends, wasn't that a young person thing?   I don't think I ever bought a thing, must be why it closed.

The location across the street, where this is being proposed, had a Peaches music, bought some cassette tapes there.

I was checking out the Richmond BizSense commercial property reporting KCG Development purchased 12.27 acres right next to where that development is going.

Their website shows they do a lot of mixed-income and affordable housing.

I think this project can go either way, but it would be nice to see one on the Richmond side of the border go well.

Nice infill project on Libbie.  I really like how Libbie between Grove and Patterson is morphing into a higher density, pedestrian friendly area.  Would imagine that this will appeal to down-sizing empty nesters.

If this density keeps up then it could make a nice end point for the Pulse line planned for Cary/Main.

Looks like one of RVA's old iconic public golf courses is about to bite the dust. Glenwood will be no more. The county has approved redevelopment of the course to a residential subdivision. My brother and I and our buddies played Glenwood God-Himself-only-knows how many times over the years way back when. I'm (not!!!) proud to say that I broke 100 many times on that course - umm... and NOT in the good way   Sorry to see Glenwood relegated to the great water hazard of history, but that's the way the wayward tee shot bounces I guess.
