Movie theater a go for downtown Knoxville

There are two very exciting projects going on, on Knoxville's historic Gay St. The movie theater should bring much pedestrian traffic to Gay St. and encourage other businesses to locate there. With all the excitement around Market Square (Steve Winwood attracted 12,000 people to the square last Thursday night) 1 block from Gay St. this will add even more vitality to the area.

The other big announcement for Gay St. is funding for Bijou Theatre renovation has been announced. Knoxville residents are still absolutely smitten over the Tennessee Theatre renovations, and now we get a Bijou make-over. In every concert I've seen in the Tennessee Theatre since the renovations, the artists has proclaimed it as one of the most beautiful venues they've played in! Now the Bijou should be equally impressive and Knoxville will have two of the most beautiful theatre venues in the South-East.

I've been following these. Just think how sad it would be if they'd been demolished years ago. Sadly, too many of us are in that boat.

I never have been to Knoxville, but the pictures look nice. You guys deserve this!!! Keep it up Knoxville!!!!
