Tepper was really really really close to buying a few months back, but it fell through. Really its not a great location currently, that will change as the Gold District grows up.

Didn't realize its been over 4 years, since the Toronto developer bought it, and nothing has happened.

@EllAyyDub why the confused face? Nobody lives over here, and 8 events a year does not automatically make  something a good location for retail. Not even when you add in 17 more events for MLS. Now if you add another 1000 units of residential, Lending Tree & Honeywell, down the street, then it becomes more viable.

Bryant Park area of FreeMore and new homes are spreading out from the newer Ryan homes Byrant Park townhome and SF home community.  Love the views from this area.  I called it the upper westside long time ago.

One of my favorite up and coming areas of town.  The Refinery office building wins my  contest for best mid sized office building recently built.   All the creative office being created in old warehouses along Thrift.  The skyline views from over here are great too.

Is there a forum for Wilkinson road development?  I don't see anything for the (true) west side of Charlotte, between this topics area and the airport.

With silver line coming down this road I feel like it has some growth potential.

Not really a Wilkinson Blvd thread but development is moving out from the FreeMore area.   New Saussy Burbank townhomes and apartments near Bryant Park.

I dunno but that rail line is begging to be activated with those old trolleys stored next to Blue Blaze.

another adaptive reuse project of some 1950s warehouse in the Warehouse district aka FreeMore from the Biz Journal the other day.

""Charlotte-based Abacus Capital, along with Big Cypress Capital out of Naples, Florida, and San Francisco-based Stockbridge Capital Group, acquired the buildings at 925 and 1001 Tuckaseegee Road on Friday for north of $9.1 million, according to the firms.  The 1950s-era warehouses, measuring about 80,000 square feet in total, will be upfitted into 92,000 square feet of office space, including existing space and a two-story, glass "jewel box" annex to be added in front of the 1001 Tuckaseegee building. A parking deck will also be developed on part of the 3.8-acre site.  The $30 million-plus redevelopment is called the Switch Yard. The buildings are near the intersection of Tuckaseegee Road and Jay Street.""

I think these type of office projects will thrive in the post pandemic world.  Why?  large open floorplates usually 1-2 stories no elevator queues and less expensive than traditional office space allowing some companies to spread out.

The explosion of office and retail space in FreeMore is incredible.  I do think post pandemic these single level large office spaces find takers for those wanting single level office space with multiple entrances and exits.  Drive by and the new apartments underway on Calvert St and I don't remember the name of those. Today.   Wray Ward and Stratifyd are moving to this area.  If I was a large bank I would lease an entire building here or in Camp North End for swing flex space for employees.

^ you can really see how much land would be freed up by removing the Belk in those photos. Reclaiming just half of the 77 interchange might be as much land than the whole Belk I think (Have not measured). If folks want more affordable housing this would certainly be one way to make room for it.

Matthew.Brendan is right, the old P&N rail line is crying out for more productive use — its very Atlanta Beltline-esque. Directly connecting that greenway to the rail trail and Sugar Creek greenway in both Midtown and Belmont (Post Belk removal) would be a game changer for mobility in Charlotte.
