I visited Paris for the first time in January and something about it just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm still trying to figure out why. I think these pictures accentuate my feelings about the city: it's clearly gorgeous but it felt very institutional, inhuman, and uncomfortable. I prefer cities that feel slightly more lived-in, organic, and warm, which I think is why I greatly preferred London. The area I stayed in Paris in the 19e arrondissement, about a 10-15 minute walk north of Gare du Nord, was slightly more residential and suburban, but that neighborhood felt a little gritty and bleak. It reminded me of how people who have never been to New York imagine New York.

And I have NEVER seen as much dog crap anywhere.

wow those are beautfiul shots. I would love to see buildings like those built again. They look so qualitity and for the long term.
