The new CPCC academic center. I know some of you hate the

neo-whatever, but i think it is a drastic improvement over

the old low-cost boxes the campus has mostly.

The new CPCC bookstore and/or other uses, built at Eliz and

Inde. It was unbricked for a long time while they sorted out

mold issues. Finally last month, they tore of the yellow GP

stuff and put in Dupont Tyvek wrapper, and bricked in about a

week, it seemed.

I stopped at the BK on Elizabeth for some water for my dog

and me. they charged me 42c per large water, and refused to

sell me a king size water cup below the price of king sized

soft drink. I didn't even complain, i just had a surprised

look on my face. When the lady was giving me change, she

found a paper clip and tossed at the counter in my direction.

What in the he||? So in honor of my distaste for the

Elizabeth Avenue Burger King, this space shall remain blank.

What is the oldest church in Charlotte, Norfolk has one from the 1600's with a canon ball in the side of it from the british during the revloutionary war?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

being in the piedmont, charlotte doesn't have any 17th century churches, at least not the buildings.

according to http://www.cmstory.org/history/hornets/churches.htm, Rocky river is the oldest and Sugaw Creek Presby (1755) is second oldest. Remnants of Sugaw Creek Presby sit at the intersection of Sugar Creek and Tryon. (Apparent 'sugaw creek' is truer to the old indian word/name, predating the anglification 'sugar creek').

For some reason, i thought it was Sharon Presby near south park, but that was from 1831.

First Presby downtown is from the early 19th century, but the building is much more recent. (remember, charlotte wasn't founded until after the colonial days were over, when meck county needed a seat for the court) .
