Looking for a digital camera

I'm considering getting a digital camera. Does anyone here know of a good one for beginners?

Canon makes GREAT digital cameras. i have a Powershot A75 and it's a really good camera. I used a Powershot A60 before that.

Might I suggest a Sony? Their cameras take excellent quality photos, and are fairly simple to operate. I rather enjoy mine. I have a CyberShot DSC-P7. There are several newer incarnations of it now.

Powershot A95 is awesome... I recently got that one

I like my old camera, which is Olympus' Stylus 410 since it's 4MP and yet very compact (fits easily in my pocket)

Make sure it has a larger aperature. Many of the lower end cameras these days have a tiny lens.

From my own and my friends' and family's experience with digital cams, I'd recommend one of the aforementioned Sony's or Canon's.

Thanks for pointing me here. I have a Panasonic FZ-20 and so far I love it.

If you are in the market for a camera check out www.dpreview.com. They have galleries and forums where you can see examples of what the camera does and talk to people who actually own that particular brand of camera.
