Haywood Mall Retail

Maybe its just me, but I've never felt unsafe at either mall. I have felt a little uneasy at Haywood in the evening once, but that was well over a year ago- I haven't been back since, but only due to a lack of interest (and funding), not because I felt unsafe.

Call me crazy, but I usually go to the mall during broad open daylight. I've never felt uneasy or unsafe in either mall though. Maybe that's because I'm a big guy and nobody in their right mind would want to mess with me.

I heard on the radio today (maybe yesterday) that the mall is having talks about this security issue, and discussing the possibility of a curfew for ages 16 and under.

Y'all are scared of going to Haywood?? lol I've been there hundreds of times and haven't been afraid once, lol.....Overall I think it's a pretty comfortable mall. Guess I never gave it much thought. I won't be going there for a while, though after this past weekend.

Haywood has been advertising it's re-grand opening for Nov. 18-20. I'm not sure that they will be finished by that time...It looks good but there's a long way to go. Express Women/Men opened today.

There hasn't always been an Express there? I thought it was in the old Structure location.

Maybe he meant re-opening, because I swear there's been an Express in there for a good while now.

Is much being done to the exterior of the mall/dept stores besides the new mall enterances? I saw it from 385 (kinda) and it still had the old signs up and everything looked the same to me.

I went to Haywood for the first time in at least 8-9 months the otherday, and I gotta say- I can't tell any difference except that they filled in the center court and they are replacing the structure over the entrance to the food court.

It was but since Structure and Express were merged, all new store prototypes are now "dual gender" stores.

It seems so. There were some construction crews ripping up the floor in Belks while I was there.

Was in Haywood last night and the remodel is looking great. However, heard on the radio that the grand reopening is like the 23rd or something (about a week away), after seeing it last night, not sure how they are going to pull that off.....seems like a lot of work still to be done. They better hustle!

actually a commercial on TV said grand reopening Nov 18 - 20. I was in the mall this weekend and agree I don't think they are goin got make it. They still had lots to do.

Yeah, I found out this is the case. The grand reopening this weekend is to show off the new Holiday decor. The renovation work will not be complete until January 2006. There will be new outside signs and more done with the outside entrances. So I guess to see the whole new complete package we have to wait a couple of more months.

Great photos, gsupstate! Thanks so much for posting these for the out-of-towners! Until now, I had not been able to see what the renovations looked like. They look great! Based on these pictures, the mall looks a bit classier and more upscale than it did.

Yours as well! The Haywood Mall really is looking more upscale, I agree! I've not been out there in nearly a year. The transformation is amazing! No flack jacket, either!
