There isn't a whole lot to say, but here is a sampling of the residential section of elizabeth south of independence.

Noce shots!

Are all of Charlotte's neighborhoods like this?

I liked the one of the skyline form Hawthorne Bridge.

Elizabeth was an upper-middle class neigbhorhood when it was built around the turn of the century.......most of Charlotte's pre-WWII look similar, though not are all in a beautiful present day condition.

i'm glad you liked the photos. I enjoyed the walk.

To see how awesome this neighborhood is on both sides of independence, it really brings home how ashame it is that independence grew so much it swallowed so much of the neighborhood.

I meant to take a photo of it, but just across hawthorne from these condos, is the party time site that some here have said a highrise might go. You can see the killer view they'd get. Not to mention, the streetcar that will run by their place on hawthorne, and being in walking distance between both central ave and elizabeth ave biz districts.

No more high-rise for that site :( ......about 8 stories is as tall as it will go.....plus their will be some townhomes, and some commercial components.

Party Reflections was sold to the developer of Elizabeth Village.....there was originally talk of a 17 story tower on the site......but it's been scaled back some now.

That is funny. Imagine how many random people's photographs we all have ended up in at one point or another. :)

Elizabeth Village....it's on Hawthorne, and can be seen poking up from behind the sound wall along Independence.

I almost bought this house on Hawthorne two years ago (two doors down from Snoops Grill)! Unfortunately when the home inspector came he found rotten band sills around the bottom the house among other major things stucturely. We were quoted around $20,000 to get it structurely sound...too bad cause we really liked the Elizabeth area. Oh well. It would have been a good flipper house for a contractor or big-time handy man. We were looking for a structurely sound fixer upper to live in for a while.

Wow, Elizabeth Village looks neat!

The architecture is clearly American, but that picture gives it a distinctively foreign flavor. Except for the architecture, it's very similar to what your typical Japanese neighborhood looks like, and I imagine there's a lot of places like that in Europe too.
