The Plaza

40 OZ? Must be 'urban' clothing.

I don't know, the style of the sign looks like it may belong to the same owners as the EGOLab (store/salon on Orange across from The Plaza), who also own the salon on Central beside Spice. Quoting an idiot I heard walking down the street a couple weeks ago: "Who wants to eat in a restaurant next to a salon?!" WTF? I love suburbanites. Perhaps he walked past the model of Tradition Towers and asked his friends: "What is this, condos for ants?"

I don't have time to link it, but did anyone see the article about the tenants sueing Kuhn for not paying his share of the condo fees, i.e. for the units he still owns?

It's in the Sentinel today.

Loudnes Dostrick (sp?) is representing the tenants.

Here's the link. This is a lawsuit by the condo-offices in the north tower and has nothing to do with The Solaire residential condos.

  • 3 weeks later...

well, here's what I do know about the Plaza as of today (retail-wise):

1. Urban Flats-- opened

2. Salon Elyse-- opened

3. Cold Stone-- buildout-- almost done

4. Bento Cafe-- buildout

5. Volcanos-- buildout

6. Corona Cigar-- buildout

7. Bola Italian Eatery-- met with the owners last month-- buildout to begin in January

8. AMC 12-- buildout-- more than halfway done; walls up; etc... target is Valentine's Day.

Anyone else see the quote from Cameron Kuhn in the OBJ that AMC will be open by January 25th?

Does AMC have any other theaters in parking garage-serviced buildings? One thing I appreciate about going to the movies at Pointe Orlando is that it validates parking when you see a movie there. And I think this will be instrumental to getting people to change their theater-going behaviors to this downtown location . . . where you have options of PTP's and city garages and limited unmetered street parking after 7 pm, much of which vanishes due to various special events and street closings. Without validation, I'm concerned about its ability to draw customers away from Premiere Cinemas at Fashion Square and Winter Park Village, both of which offer free parking.

I know this is a downtown theater being built for downtown residents to walk to, but let's be real for a second . . . People from as close as Thornton Park and Uptown are not inclined to walk the 1 mile there in cool weather conditions like we had earlier this week to catch a movie. And needless to say, I don't see it happening in 95-degree summer heat, either. When it comes to a five-minute car ride to a theater with free parking at Fashion Square or a $5 parking alternative downtown, we know what the choice will be.

AMC Altamonte 18 has two parking garages. Free parking...

Sunset Place in Miami has an AMC and only garage parking. They do validate parking there (reduces it to $1). The theatre gets tremendous business, although the Falls (surface parking) and the Grove (pay garage) are relatively nearby.

Thanks for the information. I was already aware of the Altamonte AMC garage (racked up quite a few MovieWatcher points there with my parents) and meant to ask specifically about fee-based garages. You certainly addressed my concern. Parking validation to $1 is better than nothing, and I hope that AMC is planning to do the at least the same for this location. Edited by slapdash09

I heard their are 90 units still available at Solaire.

Anybody have better info ?

You can search any MLS gateway by address. Their address is 155 S. Court ave. I'm showing 37 properties. There are still some publicly accessible MLS gateways out there if you search.

I'm not in real-estate, I haven't any clue if there are additional properties outside of the MLS.

'hope it helps

Around 91 give or take a few units. That is how many are still under the ownership of PLAZA COURT L P which is the developer according to the property appraiser.
